Dunedin male:
Oh Rach - how painful is that - little one was at front with head up when fish came in and fell over when other two got up - I don't think I can stand it again after watching Bravery at LG

Oh darn, I can't get the webcam now.
Yes, Wendy, it makes painful watching sometimes. It seems this year there are not many nests that are managing to rear three. The weather is to blame in many cases.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Just recapped on some of the other nests, - Glaslyn has three female chicks that were ringed the other day, Kielder has three which have given some cause for concern, but seem to be doing okay now, and there are three at site B near Rutland Water.
just been on a quick trip to Manton Bay - 'cos I can!!! Do you know names of this group Rach???
They haven't got names as such. The male is 5R, that's his ring number, and the female is known as Mrs, she has never been ringed so her family tree is not known. She is recognised by her head markings when she returns from migration, and anyway flies straight to her nest and ousts any other birds (including geese ) that might have thought of laying claim to it. There was a third egg here, but it's assumed it wasn't fertile, Mrs didn't turn it (maybe she knew) and it dropped down under the nest material.
If you're on the Rutland Water website, go to 'Our Ospreys' on the drop-down menu, it gives you a potted history of the birds at RW.
Oh Wendy, just realised you'd put your last post on the wrong thread. There's one devoted to Rutland Ospreys under the Loch Garten forum.
Raining heavily in Estonia, Piret is huddled over the chicks.
Sorry Rach - I can't find the link to Rutland Ospreys
Wendy, if you go to the top of this page and click on to 'Loch Garten ospreys' it will take you to all the threads under that title. Scroll down the page and you'll find Rutland Ospreys.
TweetDreams posted a very nice video close-up of the 3 Hellgate chicks during an intruder alarm (not that they react to it, they just want feeding ;-) ):
