Dunedin male:
Hours ago I meant to post this encouraging clip of Piret feeding the chick, but got waylaid by our LG family's traumas.
Osprey eggs sure are tough, ALAN, it's great to see another chick about to emerge :-)

Estonia, WENDY :-) The couple are first-time parents and it has showed! Sometimes amusingly, sometimes worryingly ;-)
All going well at Seili:
Another feed in Estonia. Madis tried to feed chick but was not close enough. Piret took over and is now feeding chick. Can still see the pip although egg has rotated slightly away from the camera.
Ha! Kinda snap, Alan, here's the video of the touching incident:
Lovely bit of film, thankyou, scylla!
Nice to know too that there may well be another chick by morning.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Piret flies off, leaving Madis in charge; he knows he ought to be be brooding but can't see how to do it, so he tries to approach from various angles but each time he gets near the chick and eggs, he backs away again! Fortunately Piret comes back after a couple of minutes and settles down again.
Wet,wet,wet at Kielder.
Madis has just delivered a whole fish to the nest and gone off with it again. Chick being fed from remains of last fish.
Wrong thread.
