Picking up this thread for the first time. Dunedin - that explains it then seeing only 1 chick on nest although there appears to be an egg partially under the moss, pic to follow plus others from nests from over the water. look at the beach litter on this nest and a plastic bag was on there but it blew off.

Very sad news. The male there is the famous Black 80. Hope he finds a new mate. It is turning out to be a bad year for famous ospreys.
