Evening/Morning all: This week should bring more interesting news about Mallachie. Check the last few entries of the previous Weekly Chat for another photo of Queenie and other input from bloggers!
Hope you all got your clocks, microwaves, coffee pots, TVs, etc., organized for the next six months. And when did BST replace GMT, at least in the summer. In the US, standard and daylight savings time have had a long and fascinating (and apparently often confusing) history, given that we have three times zones for the contiguous states. DST is another matter, with most states changing but some not, but at least we don't have 30 minute increments like they do in Australia!
TerryM: The GE Help window is pretty clear re tours. I do recall that it took several "clicks" to get the thing started. Other folks commented on that and I had the same experience in the beginning but then it was okay. I tried to copy and paste some of the info onto your page, but it included boxes with images and they didn't copy. I'm sure other folks will have more helpful info. Good luck. Too bad lovely Queenie isn't around any more. When my daughter and I were away the other week, we stayed at a place which is a favorite "drop off" spot for folks wanting to "lose" cats. They had three cats when we were there, which hung around the garden entrance to the dining room waiting to be fed (by the staff). One night, the cats were served prime rib, all nicely chopped up for easy digestion!!!!
Alan: So. Are you treating us all to a trip to Loch Garten next year with your lottery winnings or will we be depending on the webcam again? :-)
Gary: Dying to hear about your English food outing (what was it really like?)
OG: We grow tomatoes outside here but my friends who do often fence them and other veggies in to keep various critters, including deer, from snacking on them; not to mention snails. My sister has expressed some frustration with EU rules - specifically not being able to buy French cheese off a market stall (I think that was it). Is following EU rules a bore or do you think it's generally for the good?
NEW BLOG FROM ALICE
hello
it was me who mentioned the natural world programme. really enjoyed it but turned off at 7.45 when bear hunting season began. did not realize people were given carte blanche to kill these wonderful animals. you will guess i am against fox hunting and all these dreadful "sports" how can anyone describe these actions as sport i do not know.
hi alan
saw the osp
ban all hunting is what i say. by the way did you hear about that idiot A A Gill who killed a baboon just to see what it was like to shoot something very like himself. you know what i would like to do to him????
not sure that i like the fact they had learned to trust man as we all know that not all man can be trusted
Hi, dibnlib. All cruelty to an animal makes me sooooo angry and frustrated, `cause some of it is legal, for example hunting, aarrrgghhh
OG, glad that your day was successful.
Good to know that R&M are doing fine. But now must sign off, back tomorrow. Have a good evening/night/day everyone
my photos in flickr
Alan, sounds a lovely day out all round (apart from Tesco's!!) Thanks for the blog info.
Annette, I did see the documentary. It was wonderful. I didn't know they had a recording of him being killed. Glad it hasn't been released. I did see a programme about people looking for him as well.
Glad everyone else has had a nice day.
OG, & ALAN: Sounds like you both had good 'birdie' days - what a lot of red kites Alan, good to know there are some around.
Annette: Wondered about the Grizzly Man, couldn't remember his name but have read about him in the past, also his sad end.
Not a very birdie day for me, though I still see at least one string of geese going across the fields here, per day. Finished making my Christmas cards, now all I have to do is address them all, and write about 5 letters to people I only contact about once a year, at 'Yuletide' (and they all get a personal letter, not one of those boasting round robin things...) The geraniums in my front garden tubs are in full glory, it looks like July or August, except it now goes dark here at about 5.00 pm :-( Husband picked up what seemed like tons of leaves from garden this afternoon- no, we don't have a leaf blower (!) but the dog thinks it's a great game, with his beloved Master in the garden to play with, and gets in the way as much as possible.
Good Day/Night Everyone:
AQ: What a skink! I'm glad it wasn't anything worse hiding out in your garden, one just never knows.
Annette: We had rented the DVD Grizzly Man thinking it was kind of like Never Cry Wolf, which I thought was a wonderful movie, but we had to shut the former off, we just couldn't stand all the drama.
Margobird: My grandmama passed down a splendiferous cough remedy which you may find appealing. Combine honey, lemon juice and brandy, put your stove burner on very low and heat the mixture in a small pan just so it's warm to the taste. You don't want it too hot, but just warmed enough so you can spoon it out and take a teaspoon or 2.
I don't know the divisions of the ingredients anymore but perhaps with some experimentation you'll come up with something to suit your own taste. =O)
Lindybird, you are putting us to shame, doing your christmas card is October!! Very organised. I, you may be shocked to learn, am more of a last minute guy!!
In fact, I leave it so late I hope my better hald gets fed up and takes over for me!! Only worked one year though, here's hoping.
I think you should invest in a LB. Think of all the fun the dog and master could have together with that.
Thanks for that Caerann will give it a whirl. I like brandy anyway expecially when it is cold so this is a good excuse to have some for medicinal purposes.
