Welcome, Regulars, Drop-ins and Readers, to the December GABFEST!
November has been a busy Roller-Coaster month for The Gabfest. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve fought & made-up, we’ve worried. After a longer than usual silence, we learned that Keith was seriously ill in hospital. However he is now nicely recovered and is contemplating an extended time in the warm Florida sun with his family.
We had one major planned event - The Gabfest’s Second Music Night. Again a major success!
We’ve chatted happily about many topics: travels, tartans and of course, ospreys ,birds, and more ospreys. Food has been a favorite topic from Clooty Dumpling & black bun, to a demonstration in tablet making , to giant cakes and Thanksgiving menus and St Andrews dinners. We survived Guy Fawkes’ bonfires & fireworks. Much of this was nicely illustrated by our three excellent in-house photographers, Black Jaguar, MaryGK & Keith. We’ve seen many new faces. Some just drop in and out for quick visits ( always welcome) while others have stayed and become one of our growing community of friends.
So what will December bring? Will we get first hand reports of American osprey living in sunny Florida? Will our Gabbers ask for a third Music Night? Where will our chatter take us this December? Christmas is coming which should lead to more good cheer.
Our fire is burning merrily as befits early winter days and nights when we‘ve already had our first snows. So come on in, and be one with a group of friends where you can always expect the unexpected..
Ok Lowry... Flora she is then...
He's back again..
All for one and one for all.
I'll email them via the contacat page to tell them their birds names...lol
Oh and why they are called that!!
Hi all and nice to see you oor Lizzie.
I am lurking again as so tired and Keith if jag sees 2 Panda's on rollerskates running into everyone, then that will be me and my friend. It is Hogmanay after all lol.
lowry you are right, I am very tired and will catch up soon with you all soon.
I am watching and going to take the dog out and maybe that will wake me up :)
Too late I just asked Wallace and he said the name Flora is ok.
Hi B&B hope you are ok,yes a walk with Morris may wake you up and you can join us.
Flora she is..
Hi B&B... I'll be taking my skates tomorrow night.. just incase. lol
Sorry folks I shall not vote as I do not like names for Ospreys but do realise when you take them commercial you do have to give them a name. However the names given recently both in Wales and LG have been appropiate representing areas around the nest
I prefer to refer them from their tag White EJ etc. However I do not think the Dunedin birds are ringed.
My own Osprey (He is only a fluffy toy - to some gabbers) does have a name OSCAR but only because my daughter named him when she gave it to me - but to me he is Yellow OS.
Are we decided then black jag,Flora and Wallace.
Yes Lowry we are...
I've just mailed Dunedin to tell them.. :-?
Oh Oh what have I started..lol
Keith I'm not with you on this one.... I've got names for the chaffies, starlings, blue tits etc in my garden. Is this different?
