Weekly Chat, Sunday October 11, 2009

Hi all:

Lindybird: I responded to your post at the end of the last Weekly Chat.

  • MAUREEN:  Welcome back, we've missed you!  Good Luck with new pc.

DIANE:   Love the idea of having eyes as big as grapefruits!  Wonder if we will get to see your interesting sounding programme.

Must go, just popped in before being dragged off by Husband to boring Bank discussions- I hate finance, just like spending the stuff!! Sunny morning here in NW England. Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning all and especially Maureen. After all the excitement of the conkers and porridge it is back down to earth today. Speaking of spurtles, I used to have a wooden one but it seems to have got lost. Must save up for a new one.

Weather here on TI is beautiful this morning.

    Sunny . Temp 8.6c . Wind NNW 11mph . Visibility 50kms . Pressure 1027 rising.

Since beginning of September the weather has been great with hardly any rain. Reservoir levels are getting low in some areas.

  • Has anybody been watching Wild Russia on National Geographic channel. Last night was the second episode and it it showed golden eagles and sea eagles feeding and fighting over food. Seemingly they feed where the salmon go to span then they die but in winter these salmon are the food that the eagles feed on and because it is so cold the salmon are frozen and the beaks of the eagles are so strong that the are able to eat the frozen fish. It also showed great landslides that you never hear about because they take place in the wilderness of Siberia. The programme is on at 8pm on Sunday night. Worth a watch

  • Maureen - so good to have you back again.  So many people were asking each other "where's Maureen?"!  Hope the new PC will last you well.  Have you literally lost everything, or was your dealer able to retrieve files and data from your hard disk?  At least you can get LG stuff back by going back hrought the blogs and forums!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Scotland has a new world champion!. Thomas Gormley dressed as Rab C. Nesbitt became the 2009 World Conker Champion yesterday.

Thanks Carrann. I used to look all the time but haven't recently. Thanks for the kick up the .... LOL

That is chilly there. Are you anywhere where you get the "lake effect snow"?

Aye Gary, living only 2.5 miles west of Lake Michigan means we do get lake effect snow although sometimes not as badly as northern Indiana does.  'Tis far better than being in Buffalo New York or in Ohio along the Lake Erie shoreline though. You couldn't pay me to live in Buffalo or also the Upper Pennisula of Michigan, that's for sure!

I'm sorry, i think, Caerann. Sounds lovely being that close to the lake but I wouldn't want to cope with all the snow you get, almost all the time!! We get a fair bit here in CT but nowhere near your amounts.

  • Annette in SoCal - If Milwaukie is in Oregan, then yes that's where he came from.  He said he came over to celebrate his love of porridge and was elated to have won.  And he will be back next year!!  Think we will need to practice more!!

  • original goldfinch beautiful horses and wonderful photo.
