Another week folks. Just in case you missed it, AQ posted the following at 12:41 a.m. Sunday morning:
Good morning. 10.10 am. Yawn. Couldn’t get to sleep last night plus we lost an hour as daylight saving started. Tiring but such an exciting day yesterday watching Daughter#2 look at 100s and try on dozens of wedding dresses. Funny (strange funny), that she wants me involved. For my wedding I was busy fending off my mother as, being the last of the flock to marry, she had developed a set of traditions/customs that were essential. Hm, I won some, lost some. As Dau#2 has been living away from home for several years, I am quite happy to sit back and let her decide her day.
Annette. Until you learn the new appliances are you eating out of a can beside a campfire in the backyard? Or on a diet of salads? LOL
Diane. Later I shall post some photos of Pacific black ducks on the Backyard gallery. Loved the Kakapo video – thanks for the link.
Morning all.
Weather is really changing here - they've had snow in the higher elevations of Yosemite and the Sierras and our nights are definitely cooler. Lots of snow in Idaho already.
Cirrus: Saw "Fly Away Home" years ago - lovely movie. And yes, will be nice to get an update on the girls. Re vehicles, around busy sports venues, universities, etc., here, we have - in some areas at least - resident parking only. You get a sticker from the local authorities and any car that parks without a sticker can be towed. Of course, many U.S. cities, especially in the West, "grew up" with cars - and lots of space. Where I lived in Watford in the 50s, we only had about 10 cars on the entire street; last year when I visited it was bumper-to-bumper parking. It's the same on the East coast here in the older cities.
Strong chance I'll be taking the laptop on my trip since we just got new photos from my sister in Lincolnshire that my daughter hasn't seen (she doesn't have a computer; just animals). So maybe I'll check in later. Have a nice afternoon all.
Oh do check in Annette.
Re residents only parking. We have to pay for it here and I personally am against paying to park outside my own house. I don't want yet another expense !! My budget is squeesed. :)
And safe journey.
For those of you who are interested in the 'rutting greens', Cassius has beaten Percy and Percy has now left the green and returned home.
Thanks BrendaH .I have been watching some of the action on the rutting greens today. Fascinating and we are so lucky to be able to see this spectacle live from Rhum.

Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.
Good Day Everyone,
Been off for awhile, on the mend from a very bad cold so only been checking up on Rothes and Mallachie on GE, the Derby Peregrines and watching Sheila's newly hatched chicks at Alcoa Anglesea. Also been checking on the astonishing daily numbers from the U.S. raptor migration count and in Mexico.
On Sunday 10/4 Veracruza Mexico had a count of 158,947 birds (including 133 Osprey) in one day!
On Saturday 10/3 Corpus Christi, Texas had 64,435 birds (including 6 Osprey) so they were getting amazing numbers down there too. I told my sweetie I want to go bird watching there next year, it must be an unbelievable sight.
