In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.

A few days ago I alluded to a post from 2008 where Deshar was leading Nethy to safety.

The big fight between Leri and Dulas at Dyfi.
Loch Garten stats. and All the important links for LG.
Thanks moffer. Just been watching that on FB. Amazing footage.
They didn't seem to be puncturing each other with their talons though (hopefully), just holding each other off. Some vicious pecking going on too.
We have the benefit of hindsight but it must have been pretty horrifying for Ems, Janine and team watching first hand.

Horrifying fight! Of course they couldn't show the 17 minutes when Dulas was motionless, but he sure looked inert at one stage. I wonder if he was doing a Bynack and playing dead, hoping his sibling would lose interest? Thank you MOFFER :-)
TIGER, did that take place after Deshar was lost at sea? I've had a look at Mauritania and found a bird outlined in the sand, it is Deshar's spirit, waiting to guide his kin on their treacherous journeys ;-)

scylla That was about 10 days after Deshar's flight ended at 5pm on 30th September 2008. Well someone pointed out that Deshar might ber the best guide to have.
Good afternoon all and my first look in at this forum since returning from holiday due to personal reasons, which are explained on Weekly chat. Thanks for all the input which is taking a lot of reading.

It really does look more and more like an accident between Leri and Dulas to me, rather than a fight. Leri's talons appeared to get stuck in something which some seemed to think was the harness and Dulas seemed to be trying to hold her off thinking she was attacking him.
Janine has since posted to say there doesn't seem to be any injury to Leri's body or feet and that both birds had gripped each other by body or wing. She makes the point that if Dulas' harness had been snagged it would have come off.
Hi Margo. Lovely to see you back and so sorry to hear of your accidents and sad news.
Hi Margo, I have left a note for you on the Weekly Chat.
I'm so glad that there was no sound with that video. It was awful to watch, and must have been terrifying to watch first hand. At one point Dulas did in fact look dead. What a day!!!
Rutland Water have said today that they have 2 Osprey left there too. So that's 5 that we know of still in their territories, except maybe Dulas has now fled, and who would blame him.
