In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.

Rutland Ospreys.
AW is nearly there!!! 09 is taking it a bit slower.
Yes he is going to smash the European record.
AW is one FAST determined bird. What an achievement. From the time of the last update, he has probably made it by now and is eating a well deserved fish.
I hope that Bynack and Tore and the other young ospreys can make good time across the desert. What a barren and hostile environment that is.
Loch Garten stats. and All the important links for LG.
Moffer Is this your first tracking season?
TIGER and MOFFER - I promise you faithfully that I just made it back here ready to paste the info from the Dyfi Facebook site - it had suddenly occurred to me that it should be out there for me to find for myself ;-D What a relief to see that all 3 birds are well, and what a fisherman and great dad Monty is, 2 fish in quick succession.
I see that the weather is calmer, but not for long unfortunately :(

This is my most involved tracking season. I was watching the year that Deshar perished, and I was so upset that I didn't follow the next years young after they left the UK, and last year was a non starter as the LG birds weren't tagged due to the weather.
I'm totally addicted this year!!! It's just amazing to watch these birds moving through Europe to reach western Africa. I would love to go there during the winter and see the spectacle.
Moffer That is very interesting. This is my 13th season I have been watching tracked birds.
Deshar seems to have got a lot of people involved.
This morning I was reading a short article in Aug's BBC Wildlife Mag about the missing RW birds and I hadn't realised that its suspected that they were shot It really upset me

As you say, Tiger. Unbelievable really, and so tragic that his compass failed him :'(
Hoping for updates on Dyfi very soon!

Actually SCYLLA
I believe (As Richard mentioned when someone suggested the 'sat navs' had put him off course) that the sweary word east wind (at the time) had a lot to do with it.
Dyfi Osprey Project
08.45 - Monty's Back!! He's just brought a mullet to the nest - Leri and Dulas ended up in an almighty fight for it and Dulas eventually won and flew off with his breakfast. The website is coming along well and should be live by next week, Ems
Thanks for posting this MOFFER

Does anybody know when we might get an update on our two. We haven't had anything since early morning on 5th. Hope all is well with them. i remember a couple of years ago we heard nothing for a couple of days and then we got the news that Mallachie had stopped transmitting so fingers crossed both are doing okay.
