Weekly Chat, Sunday September 20, 2009

Hallo all. It's a brand new week!

  • I used to have a doormat that said: Dogs and Cats, Welcome. People? Not!

  • hope you enjoyed the evening Annette

Not really listened to that but enjoy it when I stumble accross it.

  • Yep, Annette, I dashed off to the bus again. I didn't finish yesterday the files at the archives I had called up and so returned for 90 mins "work". Home just in time. It is pouring. If I hear a rumble of thunder I shall shut down. That's 3 days this week - a good thing that since July senior citizens get free public transport between 9 am - 3 pm. (Yes we do have an election coming up.)

    Thanks, Sue .

  • Morning all (9.50 am here)

Thank you all for your nice comments of my pics

Cirrus: the tower (where the nest is) has been there a long time. It has something to do with the boat/ferry traffic or geodesy or both or ... don`t really know for sure

Annette: mayby you could get Gordon Ramsey to do a show in your brand new kitchen and thus get some big $ to cover the remodelling costs

  • It has been a good year for seaeagles here. Confirmed 349 chicks plus the ones "hiding". One pair did history: they made an eyrie inlands, 100 km from the sea (not far from where I live) to a 26m high pine. Two chicks were ringed. And I just read from the local newspaper this morning that both fledged succesfully, but nest has now falled to the ground (`couse of the jumping up and down?). The forrest is now protected and they are now having conversations with the land owner and experts wheter to fix that nest or wait if the eagles will fix it themselves.

  • Good afternoon, auntie (5.50 pm in Adelaide). I enjoyed your lovely pictures. Pity about the nest but I suppose the eagles should know what to do :-)       Now I must stop browsing birds on the internet and go to prepare evening meal. Bye.

Sue:  So sorry.  Didn't realise that hyperlinks are a no no to the Natuxo site.  I should have twigged when you were explaining how to get there with descriptions!  I thought there might have been a reason but couldn't understand why - thought it was only photos which couldn't be downloaded directly.  All deleted now.

  • The next episode of 'Scotland Revealed' is now available on 'stv player'.

  • Good morning autnie it certainly has been a good year for you.  What a lot of chicks.  They must be fairly safe over there.  I think it is just wonderful how the world in general is becoming more and more aware of all the beautiful birds of prey that grace the planet for us.

My husband works in an office right on the edge of the Mew Forest and close by is a man who is a qualified eagle falconer.  It has come from Scotlandand he will start training it next year. My husband was lucky enough to be able to speak to him and came home with some wonderful photos of him.  When he does start flying it will be in tne New Forest so we will definitely be going to see that.  Have a good day.
