Hallo all. It's a brand new week!
'Painting Ospreys by Numbers' - could catch on! Night All!
very interesting discussion about the eagle. My first instinct was to say "that isn't right" but Caerann you have put a whole new perspective on it. I have no experience to speak of , of American Indians. That is a powerful storey.
auntie what a good idea it would have to be numbered for me, not too good at keeping inside lines.
Margobird
Caerann just had a look and fog has cleared and bird on the box.
This is a difficult one Annette. I know we sdhould respect Native American religious ceromonies but I don't think I can agree that eagles should be kiiled purely for this purpose. Hope I am not being to contraversial but that is the way I am thinking.
Back from breakfast with daughter.
Cirrus: Yes, tiles are neutral goldy-creamy mix; cabinets light maple Shaker style. Simple and airy.
Eagle decision will be interesting; the LA Times article did mention that many more eagles are shot by white "hunters" than Native Americans.
Gary: Enjoy your visit with Mom.
Think any show Alan could produce on leafblowers would be more interesting than our Fall TV line-up!
Hope weather is kinder to all today. And Diane, I don't have that photo to upload - was waaaay before digital cameras!
Hi all. Don't often use this thread but I just wanted to post a word of warning by way of relating my recent experiences.
I got a letter from my ISP provider in June entitled "Fair Usage Policy", which stated that for the preceeding three month period I had exceeded their fair usage limit. It went on to say:
"We would really appreciate it if you could lower your usage.....The alternative is that we might have to cap your connection speed so that other customers don't suffer. Obviously we don't want this to happen.
I was puzzled at first as I couldn't understand why the usage should be so high, then it clicked. Perhaps my habit of logging on to the LG and LOTL webcams early in the day and then leaving them on all day probably wasn't the brightest of ideas! I immediately slashed the times I was logged on (only viewing them directly and not having them on 'in the background' listening for any action, as I regularly did before).
Funnily enough (or not) the day I received my letter my connection speed collapsed to the point that I had to abandon the PC altogether. Although it picked up slightly after that I have endured three months of internet purgatory with a piffling connection speed. Two days ago I received a following letter saying that "we're really pleased to restore your broadband back to its original speed. Please make sure it doesn't rise again as the connection speed could be capped permanently."
Just wanted to warn others before next season what can happen if you can't tear yourself away from the action! Has anybody else had any similar experiences?
Good grief Sandy. Never heard of anything like that - at least not in the States. Who is your ISP provider?
Er....I'm not sure I should divulge that Annette. You never know who might be reading this - I've been punished enough already! Let's say that they are a colourful company.
Forgot to say that in between letters they put up the monthly charge by over 50% - time for a change?
Probably smart not to mention names Sandy! But WOW!! A 50 percent increase AND slower service? Such a (bad) deal. Not sure how things work over there. Here in Santa Barbara, our surrounding hills make cable or satellite the only options for television reception. At our house, we use cable for both TV and internet access, which costs an additional $45/month with no limit.
