I offered yesterday to start a new Topic once Bynack had fledged, but as we now have the updated Satellite Tracking page, and biography pages for Tore and Bynack, and there are some tracking results for Tore on Google Earth, I’ve gone ahead with it.
A brief introduction to the ospreys we’re tracking – first, the class of 2011.
Tore – link to her Biography
Tore is the elder of this year’s juveniles, her ring is blue/white 48. She fledged on Tuesday 12th July aged 54 days, and has started to do a little exploring.
Bynack – link to his Biography
Tore’s younger brother, ring blue/white 47. Bynack is aged 53 days today and has yet to fledge.
Edit: He has fledged, at 10.18 am today 16/7.
Rothes – link to her Biography
Rothes is the eldest of EJ and Odin’s offspring, hatched at Loch Garten in 2009. Her ring is white/black PJ. She migrated as a juvenile to Guinea-Bissau, and spent her formative months on the small island of Unhocomozinho, in the Bijagos Archipelago. Now a sub-adult, she has travelled north to Europe for the first time this summer and is currently in the Gironde estuary in SW France, where she also spent 6 weeks on her way south in 2009. So far, she has not returned to the UK.
Rothes' earlier travels were followed in this thread, now closed.
Mary I think I agree with you on Lady ............. she is an amazing Lady. I saw her two years ago when I visited Loch of the Lowes and I too wish her journey was safe and that she will return.

Tempo - Oh I do hope and pray that we see Lady return next year, it would be extra special to see her back again as we all know that each and every year that goes by we wonder how long she can keep on going!!! She certainly will go down in history in the wonderful world of Osprey's...

Scylla - I think I cannot help myself from fretting, now that Tore & Bynack are down safely in Africa I wonder if they will still be OK , find a good place for fish and can live a happy ever after life, and that we see them again back at Loch Garten one day, ha ha.... then we will no doubt go through the same scenario again next year, we just can't help ourselves. At the moment we have Ozwald to fret about, lets hope he has a safe journey down too
The winds I think are against him today but NE winds forecast day after tomorrow so hopefully these will be more in his favour.
May they all keep safe
Yes Tempo, weather is atrocious where I am, heavy rain and winds, so glad to know that he is further south and clear of this, the suspense is killing waiting on updates, lets hope we get some good news of him being even further south soon.
Same here in Ireland!

Many thanks Moffer. Now that's great news :) Hurray for Rothes. And good to hear the young uns are still doing well.
Brilliant news about Rothes being back at Ilha de Unhocomozinho and that Tore and Bynack are doing well.
Thanks for the Great news about Rothes. Hopefully the tag will work occasionally so we can keep track of him/her. Someone said when they go to once a week data uploads from GE it will take a lot less energy from the battery and it may hold out until next Spring for the return migration.
Also very happy both Tore and Bynack made their migration without too many mishaps . They are beating the odds of survival by both having successful first migrations. EJ and Odin are passing on very sturdy genes. Now it will be interesting to see if Tore and/ or Bynack join Rothes.
The Dyfi trio really beat the odds !! All three of them survived . Nora & Monty raised very hearty chicks especially for their first brood.
158 days until EJ returns :)
