Daily Update. Wednesday, 6th July, 2011

Unfortunately a rainy start to the day. Here's hoping things are a lot drier by daybreak.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • They are eating a fish . I don't know  who brought it

    Formerly known as Barbara Jean

  • Too right, there's been another delivery hot on the heels of the last one :o  I had been out of the room but realised something was "amiss" and fortunately had been recording so was able to recap.

FISH from ODIN @ 0637hr approx!!!

  • The chicks are full and EJ is finishing the fish. The chick's feathers look soaked and they don't seem  bothered by it. It is helpful they are not  upset by wet feathers since they will  get wet  fishing

    Formerly known as Barbara Jean

  • I think the wet may have hampered their early morning wingercising a little.  It was lovely to see EJ still trying to protect them from the rain during the night.

  • scylia, but it appeared both feel grown up and were not  enthusiastic about  EJ covering them. They  got out from under her as soon as the rain let up.  I peeked in  when it was still dark and EJ was laying alone  near the edge of the nest and both chicks were sleeping and  exposed to the  light rain

  • A very good morning to you all, Scylla, Annette, Barbara   - thanks for the start to the day and 'wet' videos   Scylla

Thanks for the start off Heron

Hi Scylla, you did get them the wrong way round  . It's Bynack who sits to preen and Tore who remains lying down :)
Bynack is getting darker around his little face than Tore  - no quite Odin as Mallachie is but Tore is so like EJ. PS   Please may I download two of  your videos ?   ''Morning Preparations....   ''   and ''Odin delivering Fish''     (if I can find the right one LoL -  )  they are the pretty ''dawn'' videos. Perhaps you can help me find them???

In regard to jumping and fledging in particular,  the Tweens will wait for a windy day. Like it does kids , it gets them a) excited and b)  it gives them lift.

Oh, dear , I haven't tried to post this yet, I'm writing this in Quicinote - sorry to hear about the site protesting again.

Scylla is that a SECOND fish at 06.37 cos you first reported a fish at .6015    ?

  • Tore is in her 48 day today. So in theory the fledging window has opened. Hard to believe that she will probably be flying by the weekend.

    See  countup clock    here

  • Morning all ... thanks for overnight reports, pics and vids. Tore and Bynack look in exactly the same position as when I logged off last night ... must be their favourite spot!    The site seems to be quite quick this morning ... will try and post a pic from my computer.

Success ... its behaving today ... so far   :-)

That was my gut feeling.  I mis-identified simply because am accustomed to seeing Tore more active.

Of course!  Anyone feel free!  I'll have a look-see and PM you if I succeed in ID-ing them.

YES!  There were 2 deliveries in quick succession, as evidenced by my 2 videos.  I couldn't believe it either :o

  • I am off for an early hair appointment, so relying on others for a fish report! Tweens still in the same position as before ... nothing happening! As I wrote that EJ popped up on the right ... I don't know if she was there all the time.

... and off she flies  :-))
