Weekly Chat Sunday 26th June

Hi folks, thought I'd start us off.

Not much to report but I managed to master posting videos on the Daily Update today.

Have packed my case, just got to do OH's today and pack the car up tonight ready for the early morning start on Monday.

Will have a lot to catch up on when I get back but hope all goes well with you all and thinking of you TerryM, OH, and the funeral this week.

Take care all, God Bless.

  • Golly, not many people on here.... they must be enjoying the weather, as we are , and sitting in the garden or going out and about.

Meant to say, that I saw a great interview the other day with Judy Collins (remember "Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning.....")

You can see some of the interview here:    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13914577

she has aged gracefully! - and l particularly loved the reference to cataracts!

  • Lindybird. I am not sure why your link does not work but see this one  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13914577

It probably does not like being split.

  • Afternoon all,

Lynette: I hope you have a great holiday.

Alicat : I am not sure what that fish is either. Cant see any talon marks so unlikely to be an osprey that dropped it.

AQ : Thanks for your holiday descriptions and sorry you were ill when you were in Germany.

Patriciat : I believe that shingles can be very painful. Hope your doc can give you something to relieve the pain.

Annette : Sounds like that parade was great fun.

Everyone else thanks for the chat and pics.

We were promised a heatwave today so we went out to Fineshade woods this morning and had a walk in the forest before the heat built up. Did not go too far then came back to the car and sat on our foldable seats and read the sunday papers for an hour or so. Came home for lunch today and decided not to take Hamish out until this evening as it is far too hot.  Temp is only reading 23c but it is very humid.

  • Afternoon all ... very hot and humid here ... even the breeze is hot :-( The car temp said 29C this morning, and that is almost unheard of here at the coast! I think my skin has sprung a leak :-))

We went for a drive up the coast this morning ...not something we usually do on a Sunday, but no visitors calling in today. No spoonbills, or avocets to be seen, but we did see a hobby sitting on a fence post. One of the wildlife Trust wardens said there is a resident pair in that patch of woodland. Unfortunately it flew off before I could get a photo ... scared by a motorbike on the road nearby :-(((

AQ - Mainz sounds like my kind of town! Will have a look at your pics in a minute.

OG -  I hope your son has success with his job hunting when he signs on ... on his birthday. That nine weeks seems to have passed so quickly!

Patriciat - I hope your doctor can prescribe some strong pain relief for your shingles ... I believe it can be horrible.

Thanks to everyone for chat etc ... I'm off for yet another cold drink!

    Take care.

  • Interesting video of an osprey dining in the rain. See

    From Birdforum

  • Good afternoon everyone have enjoyed all the chat and the different pictures of the flowers and the holiday snaps. The temp here is only 17C with the threat of rain but have managed to get our afternoon walk over before the rain comes.  Last week we had a thunder storm along with heavy rain but didn't see aqny lightning with it. Had to change our morning routine today as the park we usually go to was being used by the Breast Cancer Charity for a five mile walk/run so didn't want to get mixed up with them as it was an all female event.

OG sorry to hear that your son has to travel all the way to Inverness to sign on as it only takes a short time to sign on but a long time to travel there.

Hoping those going on holiday have a nice time and those feeling under the weather get better soon

  • THERE HAS BEEN A NEW BLOG FROM STEPHANIE.....

  • Hello everyone, thank you for all your contributions etc, I have been catching up. Family now all away, it was just a get together, no particular occasion, and not all of them here as one lives in England. Good fun though ,especially when all the better/more confident cooks get going in the kitchen!  Copious amount of wine consumed in the process some of which thankfully ended up in the food -  used, not spilt!  OH on river all day tomorrow hoping to catch a salmon and I will probably have a good lie in and a quiet day.

  • Temp has now reached 27c. Very hot and humid.

Our temp peaked at 29 C I think ... and very humid too. ... but heavy black clouds have been rolling in and now it is pouring with rain!
