Daily Update (LG Nest) Saturday, 25th June 2011

Well, I hope this works ...

  • Feed over but all still seem very hungry.  EJ yelling at Odin to get MORE!!

  • Tiger - thanks for that link to the Osprey Sisters, I enjoyed reading about the tagging in 2009, its such a shame that there is no way of knowing if Mallachie is still around, I really do hope that one day we will see her back in Scotland.     Wonder where Rothes is now,  hope the GE updates come in soon so we can get the next update.   Think she is just exploring to be honest, and wont get back to UK this year.

  • Morning all ... thanks for posts and pics ... great to know what has been happening! All looks calm and I read that there has been a fish this morning. Both preening at the moment, lying down, and I can see EJ's beak occasionally at the right hand side.

My entry in the headless chicks competition :-))

  • Star is looking so 'grown up' today ... doing things just like EJ does. She's just been moving sticks, beak cleaning on that stick and watching the sky!

  • Morning, Everyone:  I came on to find two enormous GEMS looking at me! They certainly do look healthy.

Thanks for all your news overnight.    Mary - I agree, I think that Rothes will only explore, and not come back to Scotland until next year.

  • Good to hear that there has been a fish. Thanks for all the overnight and earlier reports and pics.

    Morning, Everyone.

Yes, Joan.  My OH looked at our screen this morning and wondered aloud where the egg was.

Well, elder chick has been "incubating" it very much in the manner of EJ.  She just stood up and when she sat down, quite deliberately over the egg, she sat down on it as EJ does, and then poked it further under her, as EJ does.  Fantastic skills.  I think she has learned them [nurture] AND they are within her anyway [nature].

  • Either nothing has happened for over an hour, or everyone else is out enjoying the mythical 'heatwave' we keep being promised!

No sign of EJ - hope she's gone fishing, but quite likely just taking some 'me' time in the other tree. Meanwhile, someone (probably Star) is having a good go at stick in the foreground.

Someone seems to have been working on the sound - the hum much less noticeable now than it has been recently.

  • Hello to you all , and thanks for the commentary and pics  - lazy ole me didn't wake until  09.25  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just as well I'm not hiking today but I miss it . Back to normal next Sat.

Very good Hazel you've done better than I did when I started a DU thread in May. I put July !!!  Tiger had to point that out to me LoL

Joan - that's a lovely pic of Star at  8.51

Star  is most definiely a girl !!  Must be, I just saw her roll the egg as EJ might and settle to brood it ! (well a little earlier cos I  was reading the posts etc)

EDIT    I'm with you Daisy  (enough said)
