Xalbai's Photos of Mallachie

On Sunday 6th September 2009, a French birdwatcher and photographer named Didier Domec was out in wetlands by the Nivelle river, near St Jean de Luz on the Basque coast.

He had placed his hide near a perch he'd put up a few weeks before, with the aim of photographing ospreys on migration. Right on cue, an osprey approached; he noticed it was wearing an aerial.

  • Not long home from work - noticed that GE is not yet updated and came to this page hungry for Mallachie. A wonderful page, Sue, thank you so much for putting it together.

  • Fantastic photo's from Xalbai, well done!!!  you have excelled yourself.

Agree with the rest of those on this page, thank you Sue for putting them altogether.

  • Thanks from me, also, Sue. What great pictures, more than we could have hoped for, ever. Extra thanks of course to Xalbai, you are a star!

  • My favourite is the shot from below where Mallachie is looking directly into the lens.  She must have known she was on camera.  What a star!  (Xalbai too, of course).

  • Birdnuts  I have a feeling that Mallachie knows she is such a star now and wanted to show her best profiles to us.  What a girl.

    Hi Sue C

    Sorry for the belated answer.

Xalbai, thank you for your shared photographic experience with us here

Sue: Thank you for taking time to sort out the pictures,  The pictures are outstanding, beautiful birds to see, and one can never tire of them at all.  I loved to see how everything progressed with them over the past few months, and it is good to read up all about it.

Got a little left behind recently, as my broadband has been down for the last 2-3 months.  I have only got reconnected last Wednesday, so I am the last to post in some ways at the moment

Have missed the chance to join in the chat about all the Osprey activity this year on all of the associated blogs on this forum

Never mind there is next year.to look forward too instead.

  • Thank you so much Sue for putting these all together!  Wonderful photos!

  • Hadn't checked this page for a few days and I want to thank you Sue C for putting these wonderful pics of Mallachie on it.  They are tremendous and make great desktops!  Couldn't stop saying "Wow!" as I filled my whole screens with them.  They are so sharp and she looks straight at the camera in some of them.  Lovely to see her in flight as well! :o)  Thanks a million! x
