Daily Update (LG Nest) Friday, June 10, 2011

Starting new daily thread.

  • Good afternoon all :) First time on since yesterday morning - my, yesterday was a long day :\

Thank you all so much for the brilliant pics and updates and  ... thank heaven for the still cam.  Even so, I sure there are some serious withdrawal symptoms going on 'out there'! Looks like EJ has just gone for a comfort break:

Heron - your pic and caption "Don't f...mess with EJ" did make me laugh!

Margobird, I bet you're counting down the hours now!  I hope you have a brilliant experience.  Can't you pack us all in your suitcase?  We won't take up much room ...

  • Star wants to enter the 'headless chick' category ...

  • Love the headless chick Hazel!

  • Oooer! - they are wandering about - don't fall out of the nest, please!

  • Hi Hazel you are so right I am counting down the hours.  I love to take everyone with me on this fantastic journey that I will be travelling.  Not sure I can get all in my case though, have packed all warm clothes hoping that will make the sun shine if you know what I mean.  Love headless chick pic.

  • I thought the same Lindybird but I think I just caught a glimpse of EJ there with them, on the right hand side ..?

  • Every year we hold our collective breaths while the youngsters teeter around the nest. EJ and Odin between them have built that side up quite a bit though.  Wonder when the cam will come back, thought there might have been a bit of news on the main blog but I expect they are really busy so patience is the name of the game for now.

  • A pity about the cam?  It's a tragedy, I feel as though I've lost my right arm! :'(  Lord knows what I'll be like when they leave us for far-off places ;-D  (Yes, this is my first year watching, I need to toughen up.)

Thank you for keeping us drip-fed with the stills, love Hazel's headless chicken!

margo, here's wishing you a safe and speedy journey and a wonderful stay at LG! :-*

  • I'm with you on that one Syclla - being my first year too - think we'll need group therapy when they leave us.  I didn't even know Deshar but when I read his profile page I was in floods of tears (I even woke at 2 a.m. the next morning and instantly got upset all over again).  My nerves will be shot to bits when they go ...

Yes, Margobird, I know what you mean.  Let's hope the weather does work in reverse for you.  In fact, pack your thermals for extra good measure ;)

I think the chicks are playing hide & seek - under Mum's watchful eye.

  • Hi everyone :-)

You know that old question which has had people pondering for eons: "What came first, the chick, or the egg?"

Well I can reveal the correct answer.

It was EJ, in March.  "Ah telt thae Chaffies tae maintain this bloomin nest, while Ah wis away!", she bellowed.  Don't panic translation to follow ;-)

"I told those Chaffinches to maintain this blooming nest, while I was away!"

    Paul.

Edit: Overuse of "blooming" in translation ;-)

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.
