Morning all: Late checking tonight. Back later...

  •  Brenda  I think a roast beef and Yorkshire pud lunch sounds just the thing for a chilly wet Sunday.  I bet your grass and weeds will have enjoyed the rain though!

Alan so pleased Hamish has had the all clear.

Margo sorry to hear about your transport difficulties.  I hope something can be sorted out to help.  Is it 5 sleeps to go now until you go?

Wendy that was a long walk.  Sorry about the blisters.

  • New blog update from John

  • Sorry, Trish, have been searching for the 'new' update from John, but think you may have been victim of the new stupid system of dates on this site, now - it says 6-4-2011  which means 2 days ago!  At 1st glance, it seems like today!   -  I read it yesterday.....

I hate this way of doing dates, sorry to those of you in USA where I think its common.   (why does it not go   day - month- year    ??)

  • Just had a look back to Alans posts with the wonderful Kingfisher pics - how jealous I am!  I've never seen one in the wild.  Also liked your pic of the young Blackbird the other day.

Heather:  Hope your knee is better after you bashed it on the gate - not a good idea, really - ouch.

Annette:  Loved the story of your search for the T shirt, then finding that you were wearing it - just the kind of thing I seem to do these days. I see your family are still keeping you busy.

patriciat:  Hope that Tweed's forelegs are getting better - how painful it must be. Poor doggy.

Wendy:  Your poor feet - you must have enjoyed that sit down, when you got there.  How wonderful to see a baby Kingfisher being fed in the garden.

OG:  Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday, and hope its just a 'blip' - maybe you will feel better by now and be able to look forward to your next trip.

Lynette:  Love Goshawks, thanks for the  pics.  At least your central heating will be all in place ready for next Winter - brrr!

Diane:  Our bathroom flooring was a bit of special 'bathroom' type carpeting - but I never liked it, and wanted to put in something more practical.  Its in our own little bathroom next to the bedroom, so OH likes to have warm feet when he goes in!  We have had various shades of green or beige in our other bathrooms in the past, so when this new one was put in, I wanted to have the blue which would remind me of sunny holidays even in winter -we have lots of teeny tiny blue mosaic tiles on the walls, and pics of our holiday beaches up,  in wooden frames.  The flooring was supposed to be a sandy colour to represent the sand under our feet!  I shall drag him off to the flooring place soon to choose some more.  Meanwhile, the ceiling in the living room suddenly sported a brown mark as the damp which had found its way through showed up, from the bathroom disaster. Some 'swearywords' ensued!  OH has painted it with some white several times to cover it up again.  Interesting to hear about the progress of your Wasp Kingdom and its Queen.  It sounds really H o T  there!

Springwatch again soon, looking forward to sitting down to that.  Someone said they enjoyed the Classical Brits Awards - I did, too - we don't get enough of that sort of thing, & they put it on very late, so we had to copy it and watch it days later.

  • ps:   NOT LONG NOW, MARGO   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Margo   are you out there are you OK!!!!

  • Wendy - margo was having little Rhys to visit today so she said she wouldn't be back on after her one post this morning!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Thanks DjoanS...not been on the ball today.

  • Well I'm not on the ball either, sorry folks saying new blog and it's old news!

  • Hello all.  Have been reading to catch up.

Alan So glad Hamish has got the all clear - it's such a worry when they are not 100%.  Love your kingfisher pics.  I haven't seen one for many years though I understand they live by the stream beside the field where we do our dog training.

OG Sorry you are a bit under the weather.  You'll want to be in good form for your forthcoming trip.  Do take care.

Have had the chance to get a good look at the little osps over the last couple of days, once when EJ flew off and left them, There was a small squabble but it didn't look serious.  #1 is so much bigger than #2 but doesn't seem to be a bully.  Then today I saw them being fed.  All the years I've been watching the live camera, I've rarely managed to see these interactions, so really pleased.

Margobird Not long now - lucky you!  Sorry I won't be in the area to ferry you around for shifts.  Have a great time. I hope the weather improves.

Tweed seems to be coming along quite well.  The difficulty is keeping him from running too much.  On our walk today, I had Fly and him on leads when a lady we meet from time to time came along.  Dogs recognised her and decided to greet her.  Tweed's lead went across my body and I ended up flat on my back!  No major damage but I expect I'll be stiff tomorrow.
