Morning all: Late checking tonight. Back later...
i must go back and look for your Kingfisher pics, Alan - I'm all behind. So glad that Hamish has been 'signed off' .
Hurrah for Thunderdog Alan :)
Trust you all had a happy time with Hope. What a great name !
Hi folks, thanks for your news and for the Monday Smiles, Lindybird.
Glad to see Tiger and Chloe are back and please do post your pics, looking forward to seeing them.
Central heating man arrived OK and we have just left him to it, occasionally moving furniture and stuff out of the way for him so that he can work.
Managed to watch the Classic Brit Awards that I'd taped, last night, what a fantastic performance by Alfie Boe and the cast of Les Miserables, and of course Katherine Jenkins. Il Divo didn't do too badly at all and what handsome young men they are, if only I were a few years younger, sighhhhhhhhhhhh.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Hi Everyone late on this morning as internet was down, OH spitting feathers as it is job to be on line. We are with a small provider more expensive than some but they do keep you updated by phone at regular intervals.
It has given me time to watch Dad woodpecker feeding baby on the tree by study window...so so cute.
Alan: Kingfisher...super.
Monday smiles...made me smile!!
Yesterday I did my planned walk so OH could get work stuff sorted before his audit when he goes to Dorset on Wednesday. It was dry and not to sunny firstly on the old railway line by the Spey and then the line that follows the River Fiddich to Duftown. I walk a steady pace so know what I do per hour and it was 7miles to Glenfiddich Distillery coffee shop. Much further than I thought so spent half an hour with coffee scone and Sunday paper before doing the return journey. I must admit the last mile was hard and I have a couple of blisters. Not much in the way of birdsong but the wildflowers were stunning as everything along these disused railways are left to be just natural.
Quiet day today HW and ironing and maybe a short walk to keep my muscles going.
Margo:Sent you a PM, bit rough about the transport to and fro I am sure someone will be a bit more helpful when you get there. Have you got your shift timetable yet?
Hello all and thank you once again for all the pictures and posts which are hugely enjoyable. I had planned to be on here quite a bit today as OH is fishing until 5pm but after trogging to tesco find that I have forgotten to get milk. GRRR - So off out again.
I hope that LG will come up trumps if you need some transport, Margo - How many volunteers are there at LG at any one time?
Wasn’t feeling at all well yesterday, but a bit better today, so trying to keep occupied without doing too much. My lethargy affected OH also, so we spent most of Sunday looking though visit brochures planning our trip to SW Lakeland next week. Have a varied itinerary planned – including some wet-weather options.
Gdaughter#1 phoned to announce she passed her driving test. Also told us she is volunteering for steward duties at the 2012 olympics – she and many thousand others! Son had a cold and missed two days work last week, but got himself better for Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday night enjoyed running a successful quiz night for his church youth. Daughter#2 phoned to ask ages of her cousins’ kids – for the seating plan at Grandson’s wedding. The Bristol contingent are apparently travelling up for it, but OH’s brother has not answered yes or no! I suggested we could email them and ask why.
OH will mow this afternoon, and I want to re-pot a few cuttings etc. Did ironing this morning, and keeping up with washing ready for holiday – probably need to extract some of his stuff from a dark corner somewhere!
Back later with some replies.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
G'morning, all. Well, it's morning here. Just stopped in to see whether there's any more news about Rothes. I don't see any new reports. Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
I heard the big pileated woodpeckers shrieking to one another this morning. They were making quite a racket about some perceived offense. My crows must be moulting. The ground is littered with black feathers when I cut the grass. The queen wasp has been busy covering each of the little hollows of her nest with some kind of opaque white substance -- probably food for the growing babies. Looks very alien!
Alan: I'm so glad that Hamish has been cleared. Yay! Such beautiful pics of the kingfisher! Many years ago, we briefly had one on this property, but I haven't seen one since. Occasional sightings are reported on the lake that is up the highway from me.
Wendy: That was a long walk. Good for you!!!Lynette; I hope the central heating installation goes well!Margo: I'm sure someone will be available to help you out with your commute back and forth at LG.Lindy: Thanks for the Monday smiles! Hope you have a good week.Annette: So wonderful to see the hawk so close up. Beautiful! I once posted a report on the Did you feel it? site. LOLGlad that Chloe and Tiger had such a nice time!Cirrus: Hi to you!OG and Eagle-eye: Hope you're doing fine.
Hope you all have the opportunity to visit the OG Restaurant! I look forward to your reviews!
Hi to everyone I missed!
Heat and storms this past weekend, and now we're going to have more broiling hot, humid weather all this week, near 100 F or 37.7 C by Wednesday. And then big storms move in on Thursday. Despite the heat, I need to do some more lawn work before the rains arrive again. It's so difficult to get the grass to dry out enough to cut it. We usually don't get this kind of heat until the end of July or early August.
Hi, OG. You posted while I was puttering around with my post. I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I think you have a couple of weeks before your injection, don't you? Or are you being troubled by allergies? People are having a lot of allergy problems here, poor air quality. No harm in slowing down a bit and taking it easy for a few days. Hope you feel better. I need to do laundry, but will wait until it cools off. Right now, power is low because everyone is running their air conditioners full tilt -- including me.
Wendy - watching a baby woodpecker being fed - oh,no chance of that in my garden. Luckky you.
Jeepers is that rain at LG I can hear from the other browser !
Extremely well done walk wise Wendy. Hope the blisters heal soon.
Yes, I too hope you'll find a helpful someone Margo - maybe they'll change your shift mate to one who has a car.
Hope another 24 hours sees you and OH back on top form OG. It's lovely planning visits to great wildlife places, hope it cheered you up.I wonder what the odds are at getting a job as a steward at the olympics. I certainy wish your G1 the very best of luck in that dept. When is Gson's wedding ? I must have missed that.
All hail Diane and the ET's in her garden :) . Most folk would thow up their hands in horror at a wasps nest but I see it doesn't phase you Diane. 37.7 C just too much for me by a long long long long way, So very glad you have Air Con/
Back to the nest
Glaslyn osps. The goshawk chicks are getting their adult plumage.
Wendy glad you had a lovely walk even if it was a bit tiring at times but it must be so nice to be out and about seeing the flora and fauna?
OG - sorry to hear you are not quite yourself, get better before you embark on your trip to the SW Lakeland area and do have a good break.
Things progessing reasonably well, all radiators are hung and pipework in place downstairs - he is to start upstairs tomorrow where most of the work will be done.
