Morning all: Late checking tonight. Back later...

  • I think I've inadvertently misled you all. The file was not actually destroyed but "pulled to pieces" by the DM.  Said she had too many pics in and not enough info so she is supposed to go through the file again taking out whats not needed and more writing which will increase her workload quite a bit .  Must shut up about this problem now, thank you for letting me sound off!!!!

  • OG: Go cross country and pick up A96 at Huntly.

Not sure about the solo flying as I had 3 overhead  the other day doing a bit of formation stuff...maybe an airshow coming up soon.

    Lynette: Feel free.

I wonder if Margo is getting any sleep?

  • Well, caught up with your news. Had to be instructed on how to use the digital CH gadget, then flat packed furniture arrived, dinner to serve, watch some tele and finally on to here.

WendyB, glad your lunch meeting went well with rosiemac.

OG - as you say, Sue still has to work with this person so she has to try and put it behind her and just get on.  She has now begun to look for a teaching support position so we will see where that takes us.

CH has just got to be finished off and commissioned tomorrow but they have made it possible for hot water to be provided tonight which is a great help.  The guy doing the bulk of the work is I think Polish and very hard working.

Forgive me for not answering you all individually, mind at times like a sieve so can never remember half the things that have been reported on but do so love to hear your news.

Take care all and good luck for Saturday, MARGOBIRD.

  • Oops! Hope I'm not too late to wish Margo a safe journey and a wonderful week at LG.  Enjoy it and, if you're like me, fall in lve with the whole area.  Have a great meet-up with the others - we'd all love to see pics of you together.  Hoping for good weatther and lots of birds for you.

  • Here is a real ahhh moment. Lima feeding her babies yesterday. View at  Lima feeds her babies June 8.

  • Wow it has all changed. Easier to navigate from now on.

  • I notice that it is June 10th so it is Prince Philip's 90th birthday today. I suppose we should wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and look forward to reaching such an age ourselves.

He has been known to say one or two things which are not PC. See  Prince Philip quotes.

  • dibnlin  The only dog ever to give me a bite was a BIG DOG....a St Bernard

OG  Love that anecdote about the Bernese Mountain dog.

TerryM  Yes you can see why they grow so quickly.

Annette  They still do have the golden retriever. I hope to see her soon.

Lindybird   I do hope to photograph the new puppy and post the pictures on here.  I like the orchid.

    margobird  See reply to Lindy.

  • Hi, all. Still very hot here. I'm concerned that the apple tree isn't going to produce fruit this year. That will be a shame, because all of the wildlife enjoy the apples in the summer (deer, raccoons, fox, groundhog, birds...) I saw the big old raccoon heading for the creek/burn tonight. I call him "Bear" because he's so big and he waddles like a bear. I said good evening to him, but he just sort of nodded and continued on his way to the cool water.

The good news is that the wasp babies hatched this afternoon. They all slithered out of their little individual pocket hollows in the nest. They are adult-sized right from hatching. They're solid black and don't have the colors that the adults do, but they were covered in liquid when they emerged. They seem ravenously hungry and are eating all the white substance that the Queen used to seal the nest pockets. About a dozen of them are covering the nest, but I don't know if any more will be born or not. Some of the pockets are still sealed. I think that many of the eggs failed to hatch, probably because of the weather conditions.

I put my hand on the window to see what the young would do. Some ignored me, and others hid on the other side of the nest and peeked around at me. None of them were aggressive at all. They don't seem able to buzz yet.

The Queen and her helper are gone, so I guess the new ones are on their own now. I reckon they will stay until the food is gone and then abandon the nest. I wish the little critters well. I find that I'm not afraid of wasps anymore! Both species of wren will be delighted about the wasp population growth because they love to eat them!

  • Lindy: Your new avatar is just gorgeous! I loved your other flower photos, too. Oh, how I wish that I had a green thumb. Animals like me, but plants don't -- maybe it's because I'm a vegetarian. LOL The International Space Station photos were fabulous! Thanks for that link; I enjoyed it! Sorry that your poppies are having a rough go of it this year. It's been a difficult year for everything. You're right; the newly discovered Mars Station probably is a secret sanctuary for all of our rotten politicians. They always know how to look out for themselves, don't they? I say we don't wait and send them all packing right now! The best part is that they can't ruin the environment on Mars. LOL!!!

Margo: I hope I haven't missed you. Have a safe journey and a grand time at LG!!!

OG: Sorry you had a bad night. I hope you're able to regain some energy and well-being before your trip. If I don't get back on here today, I want to wish you a truly wonderful holiday!!! And take life very easy today! "Hot cross bunnies" was very funny! LOL! I don't know why the rabbits line up under my car instead of staying under trees in the woods. It might be because they have more protection from the Red-Tailed Hawks and the Great Horned Owls. I asked them today, "What are you guys doing under there?" But they just looked at me with those big bunny eyes. I reminded them not to chew on anything and then gave them some cool water.

Annette: Glad your family is safe from the fires. I saw the blazes on the news tonight. Looked fearsome! I meant to tell you that you have been contributing some lovely screen captures to the Daily Update. You're getting very skilled at using the screen grab software. Well done! I was fascinated with the Google guitar and played it several times today. Very clever! Les Paul was a genius.

dibnlib: Lovely to see you; I hope the delay in your therapy serves you well and doesn't exacerbate the problem.
Alan: I googled the Black Hairstreak Butterfly. Very beautiful! Your black bird pics were FAB. Such character! The first pic especially was terrific.
Tina: If I had to guess, I would say that the blackbird had a territorial dust-up with another bird. He'll probably be fine, but I don't blame you for being concerned about the little fella. I worry about the birds here, too.
Tiger: A couple of years ago, I took one of those silly Internet quizzes, "What Breed of Dog Are You?" I was a Bernese Mountain Dog according to my quiz results. :-) I look forward to photos of your friend's puppy.
Lynette: Hope your CH installation is finished quickly and well!
Terry: I hope everyone saw your vacation photos. They were wonderful. They made me want to book a flight to Scotland immediately!!!

Hi to Joan, Brenda, Heather, Trish, Wendy, and everyone I've missed.
