Morning all: Late checking tonight. Back later...
Just looking in briefly to see how you are all doing. I'm treating myself to TV and a movie (or two) now - partly to let certain things go over my head. You'll understand why when you read my post. But don't be concerned, I do ''get over things '' well and let bygones be bygones and all that. Enough of that, here's my post.
Lindy, thank you for asking. I lost one side of a tooth (extreme back molar) a month ago - Very sensitive to H&C etc and not much good to chew on. So, that was an emergency appointment on 10 May. And on Wednesday I suddenly realised the whole replacement had gone !!! swallowed it I suppose. Anyway, a drilling this time and a more ''permantent' fix , fortunately free !!!!! No charge (wipes brow with credit card - phew)
Annette - DiL has charge of purse where my friend Brenda is concerned , which helps not at all !!! She won't pay the agency to have a carer who will make bed, vacuum and so on. (They could afford this ) Brenda naturally wants to stay in her home and from what I can tell, is always under pressure to go in to a home. Bit of a disappointment today (Thursday) which I'll get over but I called her this morning to check she was still expecting me and that I was bringing lunch (having been over on Tuesday I didn't expect her to have forgotten but called her anyway). I called just before I left home just to tell her I was on my way. No answer but I just thought she was in the loo or garden or something and just went. Well, she wasn't in and no don't be concerned, this circumstance has happened before . She has a certain friend who calls unexpectedly and they go out for lunch in the village. Brenda's mobile phone was turned off so I couldn't reach her that way so I just came home. Forgive me but I just don't want to call her yet. Just need to ''get over it'' first so I respond instead of react. Thanks for asking though.
I really do hope it is onlly another 2 days of work for the CH Lynette. Very awkward not having hot water. Sorry about no pub lunch ! What happened to prevent that? And even sorrier about Dau's problem at her work. Just awful . One spends so much time working it's a pity bosses and managers can't be a little more reasonable. Maybe this person is having problems at home.Golly, how many of you are meeting up next week Osp fans? Wendy, Rosiemac. Heather, Margo (and Sheila)
Heather, you're a very good neighbour indeed and I really understand you being spread ' a bit thin' . Good Egg Heather.
Hello Trish - yes, not in any discomfort with tooth - just frozen all night at work LoL. The dentist played classical music whilst she worked - really relaxing stuff - it did help !
Terry, what a ring '' I was on Osprey duty'' has. Soon to be Margo's cry. Just have such a great time Margo.
Pleased you and Rosiemac had a lovely lunch Wendy and I can now add Sheila to my list above !!
Beautiful Orchid Lindy - and I like the coloiur
OK' off to salve ''wounds'' with a good movie later........ as they say over The Pond
PS SheilaFE was up here 2 weeks ago!!
Cirrus: What a tale - no wonder you're a bit confused and fed up You are doing the right thing and doing something to take your mind off it, just relax for a bit and get a good nights sleep tonight, then tomorrow you will see things differently, and no doubt your Friend will be contrite that she did not let you know what she was up to. She probably just 'did not think'. What a shame her relatives will not let her have a cleaner etc. so that she can be comfortable and manage at home. Also, sorry to hear about the tooth - I can sympathise because I keep losing bits of mine and am forever in the Dentist being patched up (tho sometimes mine does it for free, too, thank goodness!). Do Take Care of yourself.
ps. Loved the bit about 'Wipes brow with Credit Card!' - must remember that one!
WENDY also had pm from Sheila, so glad she enjoyed herself. As you say no-one comes to Scotland for our weather, only osps and our glorious scenery. hope to meet up with Margo while she is here.
LYNETTE sorry to hear of daus' probs. The workplace can be a very nasty environment.
BETTYBOO sorry to hear of your blackbird, hope he gets better
Well we did go to Ullapool today. Started off with latte at Tiso. Our next stop was just outside Ullapool where we had a wonderful walk in a forest which had been planted with trees from all over the world, some of them very rare. Many of the more unusual trees were labelled and info given on them. It was a surprize find and to anyone going to that area I would say it is a must. Then on to Ullapool and I bought an unusual jacket at a tea shop, Then we had our fish and chips at The Seaforth. The meal was good if a little overpriced. The meal was delivered quickly but as far as service goes that was the only good point. There was no eye contact, no smile and no niceties from any member of staff. I spoke to the manager afterwards and voiced our concerns, saying that we didn't feel their attitude would give a good impression to tourists. Watched as meals were delivered to an opposite table and the waitress put them hastily on the table and turned tail immediately. Coincidentally we bumped into this couple while getting into the car and they said they felt the same although hadn't taken it any further. The weather wasn't too bad, a few showers with plenty of sunshine late afternoon. We found out that the tall ships will be in Ullapool mid July so will certainly go to see them, but think we will take our own picnic over.
Have just had a call from the bike shop to say my bike is in, now in shock! as I will have to go and try it out and make a decision. They will keep it in store for a few days for me.
Cirrus can understand how you feel but have some "me time" with your film and relax.
Margobird
For those with tooth probs, I am pretty sure that fillings are guaranteed for 12 months so any work that needs redoing should be free of charge
Lindy, Margo and Brenda H, thank you for your responses re: the blackbird, hopefully he will make a full recovery :-)
Lindy, Gorgeous Orchid, a work collegue gave me my first ever Orchid around 7 years ago and its still flowers twice a year, beautiful!
I have just been over to see my OH at work, he's manning a lock on the river Ouse in one of our nearby villages, where we have just witnessed a female mallard and her 4 ducklings walking over the lock gate. Mother suddenly jumps into the lock leaving the ducklings looking bewildered, so comical to watch them! mother was making lots of noises as if to say 'hurry up'! one by one they did eventually follow, it was one huge drop, but they all appeared to be fine... OH opened the lock gates allowing them to get out. Why have you never a camera when you need one.
Off to the gym shortly when OH arrives home.
Catch you all later...
Lovely story about the ducklings, bettyboo.
Cirrus - I can but echo what others have said. Just keep being there for Brenda, I'm sure she just got a bit mixed up today. As for her family - best I don't say anything.
