Daily Update (LG Nest) Sunday May 29

I think I'm doing this correctly.

  • Ah Su. I remember so well my own wedding (another life time ago). Every photograph had the female holding on to her hat !  I kid you not. My brother in law (who gave me away) rolled my extra long veil up like a bale of whatnot to get me into the vestry (or whatever it is called) of the church and then my maid of honour spread it

Scylla - EJ seems to re write the history books each year.  She goes fishing to help out before the chicks fledge - usually the females wait until the family has fldeged before helping out    with the fishing. But , I think Odin either wants a peek at his babes or a treat of brooding. EJ will not give that up. As the bigger bird she has bigger brooding patches to cope with growing chicks. The males do hang out from time to time. I'm sure you've read the post about the Caerlaverock (spelling?  ) male - he has sat side by side with his lady during incubation. Odin likes to incubate. We've seen EJ using her talons to oust him off the eggs on her return from fish eating. I'lm sure Odin just wants to be with his family right now and I can just hear him warning off an intruder as I type this.

  • Hi Alan.

The wind is certainly affecting the camera !!!   Roll on 1900 hours (the wind is supposed to be quieter then)

  • Morning all: I see it's just as windy in Scotland as here in Santa Barbara. They're warning us about 60 mph gusts tonight.  Note that Star has been naughty; maybe EJ needs to whack her on the noggin with that stick again (just kiddding!).

Mary GK/Pam: Hallo to you!  :-)

Scylla: MWSnap might be faster than your process of uploading pix (Cirrus would know all about that). :-)   Ah. I see Woodpecker has some helpful hints, too.

jsb: Very impressed by stats (even more so since I'm not a stat person).

Off to start the (windy) day!

  • Richard has spoken - this morning on the Blog

"Just to alert you all, before you get too carried away - the jury (here at least!) is still out, on chick names. Team LG 2011 will decide.  :-)        Richard."

Could we not call them Chick#1 and Chick#2?  (even if out of Egg#3, it is still Chick#2).

Caerlaverock AW placed himself as a windbreak so female could feed their chicks this morning when it was windy here!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I've been away for a while, and have just been reading your comments! Looks like Odin has been here for a while in that awful wind ... and still a conversation going on between the two of them. The tiny natives are getting restless under EJ, too!

  • OG - he means the 'real' names .Richard and the staff always get to name them. But, temporarly , before that happens we can call them what we like. It's only for a few weeks. We've always given them nick names until they are named !! Storm has got to be better than Titch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Odin's no sooner turned his back than Star is out from under ;-D  Looking for a feed I bet!  Now EJ's having a break too - I hope the wind doesn't gust :o

  • what's out there   !

  • It appears EJ grew tired of wrestling with Star to keep it under her so she is just letting it do as it pleases
