Weekly Chat, Sunday 22 May 2011

Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!

  • Jay-Me  Nice to hear about your Glaslyn trip. Not surprising that the chicks are bigger than normal since they are a record early brood.

  • Monday all! Thanks for all chat and reports on holidays/breaks. AQ, I wish you a very good trip to Europe (BTW Finland isn’t that far away where you are going LOL) My trip to Pohtiolampi yesterday was totally ospreyless - not a one in sight- zero - nada! Well, I was prepared to that but still it was a bit disappointing. Was in the hide for three hours and saw loads of different kinds of gulls, mr and mrs Mallard, mr and mrs red-breasted Merganser and several small birds. This morning mr Redstart entertained me skipping and hopping in the yard. Must be getting ready for work now. Have a nice day all and stay safe

  • AQ – do hope I am not too late to wish you an amazing holiday in Europe.(Ah, I read I’m not) May the aircraft have tail winds to speed you on your way and your days have sunshine all day. Thanks very much for the link to the community forums.

Terry, great to have you back and I do trust you had a wonderful time away.

Diane, I shall desperately hope the Naked Science programs also get put on YouTube so I can watch them in due time.

Chees AQ; grandparent pre-natal classes   !!!!!!!!!!!  Only in the 21st Century.

JayMe , welcome back . Hope going back to work won’t be too much of  a shock to your system. (or mine !!  :(    )  Sorry to hear about your harried night and hope seeing the Ospreys at Glaslyn made up for it. How interesting to hear the RSPB comment on how big this years chicks are.

Auntie! Oh, how miserable. So sorry your trip to Ospreyland was Ospreyless. Hope your work week goes well (and mine, sigh – it’s hard at times to ‘get back in the saddle)

Can’t bear to watch EJ on her nest at the moment – it’s such horrendous weather to protect the wee humbug from. (sorry about the bad grammar)

  • Morning, Everyone:  Can hear both the wind outside, here, and on the Webcam as poor EJ & Odin battle with the weather.

Going back to read your many posts in a moment:   Hope that Diane is OK in the bad weather in USA, think it willl affect her more than Annette.

Here are your  Monday Smiles, more 'silly' pics:

    -- Have a Good Week!

  • See that Cirrus posted at the same time as I did - and they have both disappeared!

  • Cirrus You seem to be doing something which is upsetting the thread. If you copy from word you got to use rich format and use that icon for word.

  • Trying to free the thread.

    Good morning all

Back to work this morning after my break in N Wales.  We had a tent on a site right by a beach near Porthmadog.  We got the tent up OK but didn't have enough pegs to get the porch on  ( new bigger tent - first time out) this was probably just as well since the weather was not too good - wind & rain.  We were fine until Saturday night when the winds were terrific & finally at 6.30 on Sunday morning we got up early & took the tent down.

We were at Glaslyn on Saturday, saw the family on the screens and also saw the female taking a few short flights around the nest through the scope.  We were chatting with some of the RSPB staff there, & they say that this years's chicks are bigger than normal.

Work time now.........will look in later & hopefully catch some nest action at LG (have to switch browsers still - using firefox for most but have to use IE for webcam )
