All quiet on the nest apart from the wind. EJ and the chick resting.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Lovely captures all, and thanks for the updates. EJ cheeping now and again, wind getting into her feathers. She's having a go at getting bits of twig, moss, out of the way. That wind is still at it.

Barbara Jean As far as I know we have never seen a male osprey brood chicks. In 1993 Ollie the male Loch Garten osprey was left as a single father to two chicks. I have never discovered whether he did brood the chicks or not. Since they were within about two weeks of fledging they may have not needed brooding.
The only other time the issue came up was in the great Pa and S2 peregrine saga of 2007. Pa was left to take care of three chicks. On one night he definitely did brood the chicks. If you have not seen the story it is here.

After EJ seemed to be getting 40 winks, she is now alert and calling now and again.
Hi everyone,
shopping done and a quick look at our local coot chicks. They have to be the cutest chicks ever!! Like little punk rockers, only not so little now. They are coming on well. Grebe don't have any eggs yet, but have built a nest and doing a lot of courtship stuff, so fingers crossed....
EJ looks very sleepy this afty. I bet she's trying double hard to stay put on the precious bunch in this awful wind. Odin is a brilliant provider and he always seems bewildered at first with the fruits of his loins, but then once he gets used to them he has a 'proud dad' air about him.
Thought we'd have chick #2 by lunchtime today, but obviously not. Just me being impatient!!! :)
Odin just dropped by with a fish, then took off with it again!
Odin just brought a fish in this wind. When EJ didn't stand up to take it he flew away with it. Now it sounds like it is starting to rain too

Odin with the fish before he flew away with it. Strange. EJ was calling for a long time then when he brings a fish she doesn't take it
Odin brought the fish back. EJ is calling non-stop but not getting up to take it. Has another chick hatched? This is how she acted when the first chick hatched . Odin looks bewildered
Odin back with his fish ... must be too windy for EJ to get up and take it.
EDIT - he's gone again ... taking the fish with him!
