Daily Update (LG nest), Sunday 8 May 2011

EJ sleeping on nest. Light breeze.

  • Morning all,

poor EJ looked so bedraggled earlier but seems to be drying off now. If there was a storm at LG like we had here last night I'm surprised she hasn't drowned or been washed off the nest. There was a real cloudburst and spectacular thunderstorm. All is calm this morning but rather overcast. Please come back sunshine...my son gets wed at the begining of June and I've bought my frock on the strength of the good weather!!!!!!

Will be peeping in to see what's occuring as I'm studying on the PC all day...boo. :(

  • Morning everyone. Excellent photo showing the Eggs,,,

Must be anyday sooooonnn, or is that wishful thinking..????????

Yes the weather seems to be very damp, but at least it wont be too hot for the chicks arrival.

@su.. enjoy wearing your frock and Good luck to your Son,,BUT take a brolly LOL!!!!!!!

  • Hi Kate,

yep, think the brolly may be required. I'm not a frock person, more jeans and t.shirt but have made the effort! Also got THE HAT!!! Blimey, my lad won't know me  ;)

General opinion for 1st hatching 20th May, so still a wait yet. Shame about the sound tho', last year the sound was so good I could hear the chicks in the eggs and EJ used to chirrup softly to them. I guess that's how they know their mum's call once they're hatched.

Saw a family of Coots yesterday, mum dad and 5 little ones. They are so cute, like little punk rockers with their spiky hair. Mum was on the nest at one point and one of the littlies was snuggled on her back under her wings and its little head kept poking out. It was well up there on the Awwww scale!!! There were also a pair of Grebe head bobbing and neck stretching. Love is in the air!!

  • Odin back on the eggs ... didn't see the changeover, so don't know if he brought a fish!

  • Good morning all and poor EJ and Odin have had a very wet night as we have here.  Thanks to DjoanS and Cirrus  for the pics, some lovely captures.  Looked in to see the sun shining on EJ earlier and now Odin is doing his favourite job. Hopefully the pair of them will dry out a bit today.  Off to catch up with other chats now while OH is at work, he will be back at lunchtime.

  • Hi KATE,SU.AQ.OG.ANNETTE(hope you're tucked up in bed now), CIRRUS. Pretty Mother's Day card. Very wet today but at least my rain barrels have filled again. It looks as if it might dry up at LG, EJ sitting in the sun just now.

SU, hope the wedding goes well. I think 'mother of the groom' must be quite enjoyable. I've been 'bride's mother' 3 times. Hectic!

Thanks all of you for todays pics.

  • EJ has just returned to take over the incubation.  Odin has flown off.
