Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

  • Thanks Wendy   as we have Sky I will be able to watch BBC Scotland.  Will be interesting but may also be upsetting I think.

  • Sheila - I'm trying to request you take me as a friend but I've been up to your profile page AND mine and just cannot work out how to send    you  a request. Andy ideas?

  • Margo - we'll have to hope Tiger or ALan or Gary or Rthe B will help us out with URLs and info  - Oh dear and BarbaraJean has only just sussed the current ones.

I'm so  sorry to hear about complications to your sister's agenda - on the one had it would be so nice for her to enjoy a holiday  before the next round of chemo cos that would really put the brakes on any enjoyment of anything for a while but I do see your point about needing to be well and strong for the treatment . My heart goes out to you.

EDIT      I'm so thankful you have Billie as a distraction right now.

Cirrus  Go to top of  a person's main page. Then just below the username is a link to <add to friends list>

  • Phew, what would we do without you Tiger. Thanks. Is Sheila right then?  I.E. we are all going to need to be everybody's friend in order to send them a message?

  • Cirrus  thank you and I am glad to have Billie with me all the time now, she certainly helps.

Was just funbling around in my normal fashion re adding friends but Tiger is much more with it than me and has answered you just as I was going to do it..  Suppose this will all change though with the upgrade which I am absolutely dreading.

  • Afternoon all,

DjoanS : Thanks for the good news at Derby peregrines.

Tiger : The upgrade will be taking place when I am on holiday so hopefully it will all be done and dusted by the time I get back on the 21st.

Wendy : Thanks for the program reminder. I will probably record it and watch later.

Linda: Thanks for the monday smiles. The one with the bike reminded me of when I had a puncture miles from anywhere and stuffed the tyre with grass to enable me to get home rather bumpily.

Everyone else thanks for the chat and pics.

Hamish had his bandage and protector removed by the vet this morning. She wants to let the air get at the wounds to help them to heal quicker. Unfortunately we have to stop him licking them in case he removes the stitches so we are using an old sock tied with a bandage. Back to the vets on friday. No biopsy results yet.

The vets was manic as there was an emergency with a cat that had a stroke. There was also a cat there that was 22 years old according to the owner.

There has been some bad news from Zurich peregrines where the female Carla died this morning while the chicks were waiting to be fed. The female and the prey have been removed and probably the chicks as well. There is speculation that the prey was poisoned. Nothing official from Zurich yet.

  • Good afternoon Alan  poor Hamish is going through the mill a bit at present.  Hope he will be OK by the time you leave for your holiday.

Such sad news from Zuriich and hope it has not been caused by poison prey.  Hopefully the chicks will be OK.

  • Hi everyone. Sorry I've not posted in here for ages. I'm afflicted by a severe case of Ospreyitis, I must admit. A couple of people offered a cure but I bravely fought them off ;-)

Many thanks for all your news and pictures etc. Always well worth a read.

Got this shot from the New Forest Goshawk cam a few minutes ago

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Hi  Heron there is no known cure for Opreyitis, I am quite happy to suffer it gladly.  Nice pic from the Goshawk cam.
