Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.
Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.
Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.
Alan -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.
Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!
Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.
Hazel b said: Barbara Jean Do not give up. Let me tell you a true story. About six years ago I founded a webcam forum. There was this woman who got very frustrated because she could not figure out how to do a signature and said she was leaving in disgust. A day later this woman came back and somehow (I do not know how) had managed the trick of getting a signature. The thing is that proved to be a turning point in her life. From there she just grew and grew. She became a fully fledged forum member. Later she became an assistant admin on a large book forum. Nowadays she is on Facebook and also takes part in online chats. You see this woman is in a wheel chair and by getting the hang of cyberspace her life was transformed. She said "My life was so small and now it is so large" I think that will always be one of the most lovely things I have ever heard said. I always wonder what would have happened if had not come back as she threatened. So whatever the frustrations....do not give up.

Tiger I am a senior and live alone. So my computer is my window to the world too. I love all the information the computer has to offer.
My frustration is I am also on my own for computer glitches. The answer to most problems I encounter are in manuals I have, but not forum type problems.
When I was trying to correct the problem that I could not log in, I did everything except re-load my OS.
I did get a reply from the center that they corrected the error message I was getting so that solved that issue.
I managed to re-install Flip 4 Mac one more time and now all I get when I go to the nest cam is the buffering wheel goes round and round. But it doesn't show the numbers of the stage of the loading nor does it load .
Maybe the center tech people are doing things for the upcoming change and they disabled the Flip 4 Mac feature.
I am not having any problem with any other site
I said I would leave if I can't solve this because I am not going to whine on the forum and ruin other people's day nor be constantly frustrated .
I hope I can figure it out, but time will tell

Morning Everyone: I have not had a very comfortable night, so have just been on the phone to get an appointment with my Doc for this afternoon. (Don't worry about me, I'll be fine)
See you have all been busy in the last few hours! I've accepted a whole lot of Friend requests, so I expect we'll have our own Web at this rate with all the to-ing and fro- ing! Thanks to Diane for explaining some of the changes in understandable jargon.
Barbara Jean: so sorry to hear that you have pc problems - I don't understand hardly any of it, its all gobbledegook to me, but then I'm lucky in that my two sons can come and sort me out when I have a disaster. Don't know what I'd do otherwise. I do hope you can sort this out and join us again (& the nest cam).
Tigers bit of Dog Talk is soo funny - someone sent it to me a few days ago & I've been busy forwarding it to freiends, but don't know how to put it on here for you all, so glad that Tiger has done so.
Tiger the talking dog is fantastic!!!
My birds are taking their revenge. A couple of weeks ago I took the feeders down to clean and put them back without the cages that keep the pigeons etc off. For a while it was fine but then the collared doves learned to balance on the feeder pegs and eat. I wouldn't mind but I really can't afford to have them guzzling all the sunflower hearts I buy. They are welcome to what the little birds drop. Anyhow I replaced the cage and now my washing line appears to be being used for target practice!
Patriciat I am really sorry to hear that you may have to cancel your trip to Nethy. I can understand your OH's apprehension but you really would benefit from a break. I wouldn't be happy to go to many places on holiday alone but I would in that area. Anyway you wouldn't be alone as you'd have the dogs. As others have said, maybe your GP could persuade OH that you would benefit from a break.
George glad you are feeling better this week.
Morning all,
No time to reply as Hamish has managed to open up his stitches and we have to go to the vet again this morning. I think we need a season ticket or just move in there permanently.
Barbara Jean : I have never owned a Mac so afraid I cant help. Not sure if anyone else on the Forum has one. I hope you can manage to get the webcam working. It must be so frustrating.
Everyone else thanks for the chat.
Alan good luck at the vets. I know the feeling sometimes. I've always been a very good customer at our vets.
HeatherB (and others) Just read your message posted yesterday. Like others, you are kind to think of me. I think OH's worry about respite care is coloured by tales of my days visiting, with a dog, in a care home, under a scheme like PAT dogs. I have to say I wouldn't want him going in that place - when I first visited there, it was a lovely refuge for those unable to care for themselves because of age or infirmity but over the years it has become mostly the last resort for patients with dementia. I know they need to be in a care facility but it's not great for those whose minds are clear! There must be other places which cater for physical problems and I've been given a contact in Age Concern who may be able to advise but that won't help with the current problem. Thank you for your thoughts.
There is an incredible Dutch webcan site here. On the extreme right there is the famous nest of Pa and S2 from De Mortel. They post videos and on 8th May there is an incredible one where the peregrine comes into land on the step and somehow misses it. They crash into the structure and and fall. I assume they must have survived ok as I have not heard any commotion. Not something I have ever seen happen before.

Wednesday morning. Dry! Loads of feathered visitors – including very wet Starlings, although everyone else is dry!
Thank you to all who requested me as a “Friend”. I have accepted them all, but haven’t posted individual messages, so please accept my thanks on the thread.
Bettyboo – I don’t think I have “spoken “ to you before, so “Welcome!” How lovely to go paddling on the Ouse (been there, done that, but may be a different Ouse, there are so many of them) and then come home to Goldfinches! We have had them here several years, and they do seem to be increasing their territory.
Jan – it’s good to see you reappearing, and as you say it’s good you popped in when you did, to know things are changing.
Barbara Jean – so sorry you can’t get the LG screen – I am no help at all – I know nothing about Mac. I just wanted to say it has been good to see you back here again and I hope you will stay around! There must be other Mac users on here, and I hope one of them will rescue you!
Auntie – interesting notes from your nests in Finland! Let us know whether the four-egg nest is 100% successful! I don’t think we need to all contact each other with friend requests, just watch out for anyone who has no friends in their list, and we should be able to track everyone via the network of friendships.
Diane – I too appreciate all that Annette has done to facilitate this friendship group – and would add my own experience, which was that your overnight conversations with her drew me into it! No, I am not changing from trousers to a dress for the wedding, I tried long skirts on when we went shopping, and the current shape of tapering skirts with fish tails (1960s singers!) made me look fatter than ever! I bought a smarter pair of black trousers and thought I had found a nice top to go with them, but that is going back to the store today (luckily can be returned locally) as I don’t like it now I’ve tried it on at home. If I don’t find something else today, I shall probably wear a top which I had at Christmas – haven’t worn it since, so only OH and Son have seen it before. It’s a warm wintry colour, but a lightweight fabric, so should at least be comfortable.
Tiger – that was a lovely anecdote for Barbara Jean, about the lady who didn’t give up!
Annette – pleased you enjoyed another concert. When do you set off to AZ? I think I missed that earlier. You must be very excited to be seeing Delightful Delilah at last!
Jay-Me – so pleased you have somewhere to go and watch the bird life which is missing at home – and great to see bullfinches especially.
Lindy – oh, but we do worry about you! That’s the great thing about the friendly group – when one of us is down, in any sense, the others care! I hope the doctor will be helpful.
Trish – sorry your laundry is suffering!
Alan – so sorry Hamish has opened his stitches – I hope you have pet insurance for all this!
Patricia – I don’t think press publicity helps much with the care home image, either. Like everything else, the worst examples spoil it for the good places.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG How wise of you to buy trousers for the wedding if that's how you feel most comfortable. I have thin skin, which tears all too easily, so I wear shin-guards as 'pre-tibial lacerations' take weeks to heal and restrict one's activities - not good if dog-walking is a major feature of life. When my nephew was getting married I bought a smart trouser suit and have had great value from it.
TRISH what a great idea for a birthday gift for OH. Glad you were there for BILs dog. I steeled myself and was there when Fingal was put to sleep, but not for Harvey as I was visiting my parents when that happened, but OH was there for him of course. A friend who was a vets receptionist always stayed with aimals who were put to sleep if the owners couldn't cope. I did read that when Red Rum was put to sleep his owner couldn't face it.
PATRICIAT Am I right you no longer have Nell. so very sorry.
OH went off to the Volvo garage yest aft just for a look!!!!!! and yes you've guessed it came back 3 hours later
tRISH what a grat idea for a birthday gift, bet OH was thrilled. Glad you were there for BILs dog. I steeled myself and was there when Fingal was put to sleep, but not for Harvey as I was visiting my parents on the mainland at the time, but OH was there of course. A friend who was a vets receptionist always stayed with the animals if their family couldn't face it.
PATRICIAT. Do I gather you no longer have Nell? So very sorry.
OH went to Volvo garage yesterday just for a browse and yes you have guessed he has bought a new V50 which we collect tomorrow. Was a bit surprised as we had decided never to buy new again, but he said he got a good deal and although our present car is not quite 3 years old it seems petrol cars are devaluing quicker than ever. The new one will be diesel
