Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

  • HeatherB, BettyBoo, DJoan, may I join the list that I have no close friends. We just tend to keep ourselves to ourselves.  I have aquaintances at Church but nobody really I feel I could turn to.  Its been such a friendly site this and I feel I am amongst many "cyber" friends even if I can't meet up with any of you. Keep the posts coming and I'm sure somehow we will all be together again when the update comes along.

Alan - thanks for the pic of the Manchester peregrines, must have a look at the site.

Oh Patriciat you must try and persuade your OH that you are only going away so that you can recharge the batteries and come back feeling refreshed and ready to take over the caring again. I admire you for what you are doing and all carers who are looking after loved ones that have an illness or disablility. Try and get away and leave him in respite - he will probably surprise you when you get back and say he has enjoyed himself but glad you are back.   I'm rambling but maybe you can get the gist of what I am trying to say.

  • Lynette....Your right it is a very friendly site, even though I don't or havent been able to participate a great deal, today is an acception, everything seems to be up and running :-) just before the site closes for a few days...I'm not happy....I have faith though we shall all come through the other end.....If not it will be a massive cry for help from the computer whizzes in the group...Anyway I'm going to call it a night, all that fresh air on the dinghy as caught up..Night everyone..Tina

  • Good morning/evening everybody!  I've been AWOL for a while, taking advantage of the smooth egg brooding arrangements on our favourite nest to catch up on some very sadly neglected tasks around the house and garden.  I've just been popping in now and again to make sure everything was still OK here  (in other  words, LURKING)! ;-)   It's a good thing, I popped in just not though, isn't it?  Some big changes ahead, and hopefully for the better, with very little inconvenience to us.

Just in case, I've been firing off 'friend' requests to everyone I can think of, until I just got so confused I 've given up for a little while.  There are no nice little messages with the requests, I'm afraid, but I'm sure many of us will be doing the same thing, just to make sure we can keep in touch with each other, and hold the hands of any who are getting a bit lost during the changeover. (Oh, wow, what a long sentence I've just written!)

Off to catch up with other happenings now.

    Smiles, Jan.

  • Hi Wattle, I've answered your call. Can someone remind me how I go about asking to be friends with you, looked on my page but couldn't see anywhere to respond to.   H E L P!!!

Nice to see you back with us Wattle. Hopefully the changeover will be done before the first egg hatches!

  • Lynette To ask someone to be a friend, just find their name at the head of one their posts (in blue).  Click on that name and you go to their public profile page.  There just below their name there is another blue click position to ask to be their friend. That click sends a request which they can then answer yes or no.  If its yes, they are added into your list of friends on your My Page.  Its easy once you've done it.

  • Lynette:  Click on that persons name and get to their Page - there you will see a blue line near the top of the page - left hand side, which says "Add to Friend List".  Click on this and you will get a pop up which allows you to send them a message, which will then appear as an email for them. They can then either just click on Allow Friend Request and its done, or they can message you back.

EDIT   See Eagle-Eye has beaten me to it!

Lynette, you've responded to my request, so you are now on my 'friends' list, and I will be on yours.  To ask to be friends with anyone, simply click on their name wherever it appears in blue, and it will take you to their profile page.  Once there, under their name, will be the wording, in blue, 'Add to friends list'.  Click on this and a little form wll appear where you can leave a little message with  your request (or not).  Just send the request and it's done.  If you click on someone's name and you are already a friend, under their name on their profile page will be the wording 'remove from friends list' instead.

  • Lindybird:  SNAP!!!   ;-)

  • Thank you, Watch out as I'll be doing quite a few clicks before too long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, thanks to Eagle Eye and Lindybird, I have now sent out a few requests and will do a few tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the guidance - easy when you know how.
