Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

  • Just popped in,  and very surprised to find that there are going to be changes.  Don't understand half of what is said in the official explanation, but hope this is not going to be the end of our super little group!

Ditto Lindybird, I have read the bumph and don't understand much of it. I think that we will have to wait and see, and experiment! I'm sure that lots of us will make mistakes and the more clever among us will tell us how to do it----------

  • Updates and changes...what will be will be. That's computers for you.

Busy day today nice 5 mile walk no ospreys but the yellow rescue heli flying down the Spey last time it was that close a fisher slipped and drowned and they found him just below us a distance of 6 miles. River was high and running fast and as he had fished here for years took no precautions (inflatable jacket) slipped and bobs your uncle no chance.

Lots of gardening and OH managed to mow before the rain came. Talking to farmer grass still not long enough or good enough for his girls to go out.

  • Oh Trish2 You know that I know how you feel.  I'd been through it 3 times before, plus one who died of a heart attack on a walk.  It doesn't get easier with practice but you did a good thing saving OH and BiL from the paIn of being present.  Thinking of you.

Oh dear.  Don't understand a thing about the changes which are to happen.  I do hope we can still continue to chat.

Very upset tonight.  We were due to go to Nethy Bridge in 5 weeks (the week Margobird is volunteering at LG).  Some of you know that OH fell downstairs about 6 weeks ago.  He feels he would be unable to do the journey (ferry and long car trip plus a hotel overnight) and is not prepared to go for respite care to allow me to go with dogs.  Feel very selfish but many tears have been shed (by me).  Sorry to moan.

Alan Glad Hamish has got his dressings off.  You'll have quite a job keeping him away from his wound.  Hope the biopsy results come back soon and are good.

  • Looks a bit wet at Ethel and Oscars nest in Nova Scotia:

  • Just popped in to catch up with all your chat. My computer was returned today and I then found quite a few updates that required restarting the computer again. With the computer was a very long list of computer parts, including the motherboard, which was supposed to be the problem, all ticked as being fine. Even the plug and lead, battery etc. At the very end of the list was 'Other' which was marked as having been the problem and had been replaced !!  I can only say that all seems fine but we have no idea what went wrong with it.

It seems we will have to make a list of all our regular small group members and all become 'friends' before the ' shutdown' so that, in case of diffiulties, we will be able to contact each other. At first I thought all would be ok but the more I read, it doesn't seem too clear about groups.

It has been anoher beautiul sunny day here and the showers forecast for last night didn't arrive. Supposed to have heavy rain showers tonight, so here's hoping.

I feel rather tired tonight so will 'see' you all tomorrow.

  • Just found Tiger's post re software upgrade and had a look at it.

I just hope it makes life easier to navigate to our LG pages???

I'm the same Brenda and I did some comment  about getting to the LG group on the official writeup of software change.

I'm not terribly aufey with IT jargon so only hope it will be reasonably easy to find everything again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
