Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

Phew, what would we do without you Tiger. Thanks. Is Sheila right then?  I.E. we are all going to need to be everybody's friend in order to send them a message?

Cirrus   Yes in order to send someone a PM you are going to have to be their friend.

Alan  You are going to miss the hatching on 20th then!

  • Tiger : I missed the first hatch last year and it looks like I will miss the first one this time too.

  • Hello all - Lurking most of the time but just want to say thank you for all your pics and posts and links. I have been following the holiday stories and have enjoyed them very much. OG - you are a star photographer.  Everyone else - I have been following all your ups and downs - I haven't had any downs recently, thank goodness but if I do, I know where to share. Margo - I should imagine that everyone here is thinking about you and family. I just can't mention more names  or I'll be back on the merry go round, worrying endlessly (and probably needlessly!) about leaving people out. And no, there is not a cure for ospreyitis.

  • Oh I am not sure how we as a group will be affected by the re-organisation. However it does seem that groups will disappear.

I hope we can keep the identity and spirit of the Loch Garten Group some way or other. It has been amazing how well this group has worked and people have contributed in a wonderful way. It is rare indeed to find a group that runs as smoothly as this one does.

I think everyone can feel very proud of your achievement.

  • Thank you Tiger  on behalf of us all  ..........................   you are included in that. And fortunately I have you as a friend  :)

Off to work now. Enjoy your evenings everyone

  • Now two chicks at Derby peregrines!

I'm not looking forward to finding my way around the new set-up either :-( I am ok with all my bookmarks as they are now ... but something new ... oh dear! I hope Tiger will be around when we yell "HELP"!

We've just had a huge thunderstorm, lasting about half an hour ...it got so dark it was like night!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Here, here Tiger.  But I don't really understand what you mean when you say that groups will disappear.  Do you think that our wonderful Weekly Chat and the indispensable Daily Update and all the other fascinating, informative, threads will just vanish into the ethernet?  I think you were reassured by Mr Bird that past threads would be available, thank goodness.  Surely RSPB HQ would not be so foolish as to break this up in some way?  I guess we just have to wait and see and hope we can all meet up again in a similar fashion under the new regime.  Perhaps a new thread is required!!

  • 3 days without the site - oh nooo.  Hope it doesn't affect the camera at all.
