Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.
Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.
Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.
Alan -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.
Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!
Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.
Back again - OG what a lovely card for Mothers Day and it does bring back happy memories.
WendyB - talking about windfarms I read somewhere that they are not as effecient as people would believe, do hope that in your neck of the woods they are successful in preventing one from being built. They are certainly becoming eyesores on the landscape not to mention the danger for all the birds flying about, BofP and others.
Annette - glad you enjoyed your concert, the music sounded fantastic. I do like classical music more so than any other.
Alan - what a super capture of the "three humbugs" at Hilton Head.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Sheila: What a super story....a Jack Russell X or 2 could be my sort of dog!!!
Trish2 - hope you have fun making the arrangements for your OH to fly in a Harris Hawk. Also sorry to hear about BiL's dog but he has been a faithful friend for a long time and he is at peace now. Its always sad when a loved pet has to be put down for health or old age reasons.
OG - like those pics of Threave Castle etc.
Trying to decide which holiday to Sri Lanka to take , there are a few on offer with most meals inclusive and taking in cultural and wildlife - decisions, decisions!!
Pics of mum and 3 chicks at Dunedin and Mrs. Goshawk, chicks, Mr. Goshawk fleetingly before his Mrs came back.
Wendyb we interviewed our QC, a super chap from Gray's Inn, who was keen to take on the developer. A man of few words but when he spoke it had an impact! The turbines are getting taller and taller too. Ours would have been 125m and I am sure I've seen info on them being 130m plus. It's all about money, and ROCs - and the stupid thing is that we, the general public, end up by paying the developers on our electricity bills. Grrr. Unbelievable that they want to put them (out at sea) in the Moray Firth. There is much talk of 'noise' from submarines and sonar affecting cetaceans as it is.

Evening sheilaFE thanks for the link that is a lovely story

SheilaFE Alex Salmond is going for the quick shilling. The country is near to being bankrupt and I can see that here everyday. Council tax frozen for 3 years ...whoopee do. So staff being given the sack, pot holes that are craters little local swimming pools being closed and libarys being closed. Free prescriptions so hospitals suffer and that is probably why George has had to wait so long for an appointment. As for NHS dentist no chance...there is no such thing as a free lunch.
So as much as I love the area I really do worry...could become a tax excile!!
Wendyb I emailed my Scottish friend (well English really but lived north of the border for more than 30 years and loves it) and we 'talked' about the election results. I was born in Edinburgh, but lived my life in the south. I consider myself British and would hate to see the Union broken up. She thought that although SNP had done well in the election, it was unlikely everyone would vote for independence. I think much of what you have highlighted as a problem happens down here too, although at present I think our local pool is open as is our library. But potholes abound, and my dentist said they would not keep NHS patients on - so I pay monthly. Oooh, we have had a go, haven't we. And all those 461 folk are reading it too! Woops.

Heather: Just thought it was me and the OH...it looks as though Cameron will bring that vote forward and call his bluff. I have been wound up all weekend feeling so much better now. It is down to the maths...as long as you can do maths.
