Daily Update - Friday April 15th

Hi folks.

Lots of comings and goings by Odin, once or twice there were intruder alerts but otherwise alls well

EJ looking peaceful and contented on the nest

  • I was wrong - I think.  EJ has just joined the nest with Odin sitting on the egg.

So it must have been Odin who flew off for an exercise flight!  She stands, waiting.  Odin sits enjoying his period of incubating.  A chirrup.  Are you going?  No, dear, not just yet. Reluctantly he rises, EJ chirrups, Odin flies off and EJ gently drops into the cup, rearranges a few twigs, adjusting the balance on her feet, moves another twig or two.  All is satisfactory.  She moves the egg slightly, and settles the egg under her and lowers herself back to incubate.

Just watched a fish delivery. I will have to practise on the MW Snap.

Thank you so much for all your earlier snaps and comments.

Brenda, I'm not very good with MWSnap either. I can't seem to make my clips as big as Cirrus does hers

I will give you some advice Kelly but I'm just a little  busy to put my mind into 'teacher' mode at the moment and I am working this evening. If you'll be patient I'll leave some instructions on your personal page (you'll get an email to say there's a message on your personal page from the RSPB - they actually give you the actual message too !!) Is that OK?

  • OK Kelly, I've left a message on your personal page. Just go up to the top of your screen and click on 'My page''

  • EJ called for Odin to come and take over and he duly arrived to do so.

    Margobird

  • Oh my goodness, heart beat up.  EJ stood up and had clearly seen Odin.  She chirruped.  He landed with what sounded like a 'splat' and there appeared to be red stuff around.  EJ went, but I was so stunned I didn't see whether he brought a bit of fish, or whether it was the red moss or lichen.  Whatever it was, the egg was safe and he quickly settled down to the job he loves.  Whew.

  • I just popped in from the garden for a quick look and assumed it was EJ sitting on the eggs ... until I read your comment margobird! He does love to take his turn :-))

  • Afternioon DjoanS Odin is just the best. how lucky EJ is to have him as jer mate.  He really takes his duties very seriously and I love to see him doing just that.

  • EJ back having a preen while Odin sits until she wants to take over again.

  • EJ's back, chirruping encouragingly to Odin, who for the time being ignores it.  EJ preens a little.  They look lovely in the afternoon sun.  Odin still sits while she still stands checking her feathers.  She seems in no hurry to take over.  It is Odin who decides its time to go.  EJ gingerly returns to the egg.
