Evening all: Been out most of the day; just sat down - phew. Off to check other threads; back in a bit!
Cirrus: Above SueC and somewhere Alan have said that it was Red8T and since the only other osprey with a red/white ring is Nimrod, who normally fishes in Findhorn Bay, whereas Red8T is a fish farm regular customer. I thought it was Red8T as well and early today tried to prove it, but alas.....first of all the programme was not in HD, so my bluray recorder could not record the fine detail, but I bet it was filmed in HD. Nevertheless I advanced the film frame by frame and standing back from the plasma screen the still looked quite clear, but close up the red and white ring was too indistinct to read. Although I am sure about Red8T, I would still like to see the programme re-broadcast on the HD channel, so that I could confirm 100%.
The frame by frame business also showed in fantastic detail the flying technique of how Red8T rose from the water, with each downbeat of the wings, which were stretched out as far as they could go and then forced down in a deep push against the air resistance to gain height. Something that at normal speed is difficult to see, the freeze frame is worth a try if you can manage it.

Good morning all from a rather cloudy Poole with light rain. Billy not to impressed as his table is wet so he sheltering by the garage door where he gets a bit of cover. Is very affectionate this morning wanting to be cuddled and stroked and showing his appreciation by talking to me.
Cirrus we were lucky to go and see Chris Packham a couple of months ago locally where he gave a fascinating talk accompanies by some fabulous photographs. We both enjoyed it so much and were very impressed by him. Have not seen the programme yet as I have it recorded to watch later.
AQ "funny feet" was interesting will have a go at that but as I have got older my co-ordination is not so good. One thing I do find now is if my comuter cables become entangled I have a hard time trying to sort them out, end up with more knots than I started off with.
Good morning to SheilaFE, Lindybird and WendyB. off to watch the ospreys now. Have a good day.
Margobird
Looking forward to watching that myself, Cirrus. It sounds great.
Finally got around to doing something with all my holiday pics, here are some :
- A nice sunset on our 2nd day there.
my OH walking on the beach at about 10.30.am - near a quite large town! Note the huge crowds!
--an even better sunset, later on in the holiday!---
Lindybird stunning pics of sunset and that lovely beach completely devoid of people.
Linda, Beautiful scenes. I bet you wish you were back there.
Feeling very lethargic myself this morning. There is plenty I should be doing but just can't get started !
AQ Like Lynette my foot seemed to change direction. If I really thought about it, all was fine, but when I concentrated on the '6' it changed!
I found that if I turned my left ankle clockwise and tried to draw a 6 in the air with my right hand it worked - but that's probably cheating.
Taped the Chris Packham programme to watch at a later date.
Lindybird - stunning sunset and sunrise pics.
Done all the chores for the time being and even ventured out on my bike to pay the papers and down to our local post office and shops - not been on it all winter. Quite proud of myself but will have to do a bit more cycling to get into better shape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All peaceful at the nest and at LOtL. Lady was calling and in came Laird with a fish, off Lady went to eat and Laird is now doing the egg sitting.

Good afternoon all haven't been on for a while but have been keeping up reading all the news and admiring all the lovely photos. Have still not got rid of my cold and have had some sleepless nights with coughingbut went to chemist and got a cough syrup which has helped quite a bit but I seem to be feeling quite lethargic and have only been taking Diesel out for walks and when I come back I just don't feel like doing anything.
The Links Market is here this week which is the longest street fair in Europe but as the main route thro' the town is closed to allow this to happen it causes mayhem during peak times. While walking Diesel in the park the trees seem to change every day with some having leaves and others just having buds and the wild garlic scent is everywhere.
Do you think the second egg will be tomorrow? Have a good day everyone.

Been struggling with all sorts on unbelievable updates that I can't imagine how Windows had so many (20- and it's all a re start and then to discover yet more !!! What is going on I asked myself. Then of course it was one of my anit virus programs causing problems) . Sigh. Anyway ..........
JSB finally read your exciting post about Red 8T. Wow. You could actually make out the colour of the leg ring at least !! How wonderful Blueray must be. Is Blueray ''just'' a recorder? Or does it do 'magic' things as well. It's not just a digital recorder is it? Wish I'd thought about Blueray when I bought my digital recorder.. (Had to get a new recorder to go with my digital TV when our region went digital ) Simply marvellous JSB. Thanks for all the information.
Hi George, so sorry you are still suffering................ yes, the trees are really doing their 'thing' now , aren't they? My apple blossom is out and my Rowan has small cauliflowers of blossom which will eventually become orange berries.
We may well, get a second egg tomorrow . That would be the correct timing. I'm hoping if that is so it will be laid early again so I can read the news before I go out hiking all day.
Good afternoon george g so sorry to read that you are still suffering from that nasty virus. Know just how you must be feeling having had it myself. Took a while before I really felt better and the cough was the worst thing not allowing any proper sleep. Hope you will soon improve. It is a lovely time of the year as you say with trees changing and coming into leaf andI really like the fresh green colour. Glad Diesel is still enjoying his walks and giving you good company.
