Weekly Chat, Sunday April 3 2011

Hi all: very late starting this - was gone most of the day. I saw Odin on the nest - brilliant!  Now off to check on Lady and, hopefully, catch up on chat!

  • Evening/Morning all: Busy day; at docs this morning with grandson. Doc's usual nurse (we saw a very young stand-in last week) was older, very experienced and trained specifically in wound care and did a lot to reassure us that g'son is doing well and will start feeling better in another week. He has no infection; she said the walk-in clinic nurse we saw over the weekend typically wouldn't deal with this kind of thing and was being super-cautious in her assessment. We left a lot more reassured than when we went in, so that was good. Then rushed home, gobbled lunch and whizzed off to whale count where we saw 8 whales: two solo travelers that passed close in and a pod of 6 very lively whales that blasted past us with lots of blows and splashes. It only takes a couple of days of those kinds of sightings to have you signing up for another year. So exciting! So far this season we've seen 409 adults/juveniles and just one calf, but this is the time in the count when the Moms and calves show up.

Lynette: So glad OH is home and doing much better. Hurray!

ChloeB: Glad you bought the stamps; glad you bought the stamps; glad you bought the stamps. :-)))

Trish2: Oh dear, cats will be cats!

OG; What is it with young girls and showers? When my granddaughter was in her teens, I used to sit and grit my teeth listening to the water running endlessly and thinking of such a valuable resource literally disappearing down the drain.   Were you talking to son or listening (which can be just as exhausting)? :-))

Sheila: I didn't see the lights last night, but as I type, there they are! What's a bore hole - a well that you had to drill?

Alicat: Oh my - Bobbie is wonderfully cute - good for you and how sweet of your OH. No time to be too sad with such a cute little bundle around!

Off for a quick check of the DU and LOTL threads, then off to bed.  Take care everyone.

  • Lynette I am so pleased for you that your OH is back home and feeling much better.  What a nasty scare for you both.

  • jsb thanks for the warning about Abebooks.  I'd better check.  It might be that the various osprey books I have bought thru Amazon over the past six months might have come from them.  I know at least two have come from non-Amazon sources.

  • Alicat what a little poppet.  She looks so tiny!  I bet you cannot wait to be able to take her out for a walk.

Sorry, it saved me checking the spelling... Capercaillie!

  • There I was thinking about a camera hanging on a bush! (Daily update - refers - a camera pointing at capercaillies, not a camera concealed in a bush!. Blogging does have it's pitfalls, now and again.)

  • Oh dear.  I used to have a thingy on my cooker, given to me by my ex-Mother-in-law:  More haste, less speed.  More thought, less confusion!!

  • Good morning, all.  Home alone this morning as OH has taken car for a service – not a full service as it doesn’t need one every year, but Motability asked us to take it in, so dealer is going to give it the “once over”.

So pleased to see post from Lynette last night – good news for OH.  I hope you both slept well, and that he recovers soon, with a clear blood test next week.

Alicat – I didn’t realise that Bobbie was such a young baby!  I am sure you and she will enjoy lovely walks when she is able to go out.  Meanwhile, she looks so much at home in front of the fire with her toys!

Annette – pleased Grandson is really doing okay and the nurse predicted he would feel better soon.  Good Whale news too – hoping for lots of calves next time!  Right about Son on the phone – he was very talkative, so I decided to let him carry on while he felt like talking!

I ought to get busy with something – but maybe it’s time for a coffee first!  Back later.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
