Hi all: very late starting this - was gone most of the day. I saw Odin on the nest - brilliant! Now off to check on Lady and, hopefully, catch up on chat!
1st egg for Aston kestrels:
Morning all: As some have said, so nice to log on and read chirpy reports from bloggers. Thanks for pix of busy blackbird, bonnie Bobbie, flamboyant finches (ok, think I"ll stop while I'm ahead). Anyway, nice day here in SoCal so planning to spend most of it in the garden, then off to dinner with friend tonight before a chamber music concert that she won tickets to. Neither of our OH's like chamber doings, so it's a girls' night out.
Sheila: Yes, whale count on schedule - the closer in we spot them, the more likely a calf will be present too. Fascinated by discussions of water filtering (or not) through chalk, granite - wonder how it all affects the taste.
Margobird: Suggest brolly and booties for Billy. (is there an alliteration bug going round?) :-)
Thanks everyone else for chat; off I go!
Bye all have a good evening whatever you are doing.
Margobird
Looking in again.
Alan that's great news for the ospreys - someone has decided they are worth the trouble. Watch out golfers!!!!!
Thanks for all your news.
Alicat - great photos of your new companion.

Forgot to say - OG lovely photo of Mrs Blackbird and of course the Goldfinch??

‘’Cirrus – I thought Thursday was your Brenda day – maybe it changed to Tuesday when you were offline last autumn – thinking of you; I really admire your loyalty to her. ‘’
Fancy you remembering OG – yes it used to be a Thursday but an incident occurred recently that has made me change my day - I’m ‘’seeing how it goes’’
Love your pics of Mrs B and the Goldfinch. I had a Starling recently take leaves from my Buddleia and I remembered them mentioning birds taking leaves to line the nest on Springwatch one year – something to do with keeping pests away.
Alan – how super about the new Osprey platforms . I do hope the golfers will give the birds their customary warning when driving , you know ‘’ Fore’’ .
Annette water and filtering thru various media - certainly much better than the chloride treatment that folk on mains are subjected to! Whenever I am staying away from home (apart from Scottish cottages of course!!) I can always smell the water when I clean my teeth! Hope you enjoy your 'girls' night out'.

Whew, a bit of peace for now.... Post coital.
Sheila: Amazing tea and coffee and I even fill my water bottle for the gym from our hill water. When I visit other daughter in Bath all can smell is chlorine...ugh!!
Alan: Non of us have ever thought of radon and if I thought that there was a problem I just have to look at 91 year old Willy next door. Fit as a fddle still walking his dog helping wife keep the house spotless and he has a complection most women would only get with pounds worth of skin products.
Very very windy in the Highlands today. Hope tomorrow is good as it is last day with youngest and we would like to be out and about.
Evening all. Son has an interview Thursday for a temporary job – slightly unusual set-up, but can hope it works out. I think the blackbirds are building a whole block - she was still collecting quite late! I’m hoping our lawn “thatch” which the scarifier left behind will pass inspection for nest lining!
Annette – I hope you had a good day in the garden and will enjoy dinner and concert with your friend.
I also hope Margo is enjoying her evening in London – and that she gets a good snooze on the return journey!
Wendy – I hope you will enjoy a really lovely day with your younger daughter tomorrow, and that her flight home on Thursday will be smooth with no delays. Will complete our meeting arrangements when you have more time.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
