Morning all; dinner time here - well getting close - off to check the options; back to catch up later.
Hi, all. Very cold here. A dusting of snow predicted for tomorrow night.
Annette: I just read a short article about Lake Los Carneros. It sounds like a very scenic and peaceful place for a walk. By the way, did you see the footage of that big UFO in Colorado last week. It's been on all the major media. Were they coming to visit you? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1370307/UFO-frenzy-red-lights-hover-Colorado-town.html
OG: The photos you posted today are beautiful. I especially love the last one. Great Blue Herons are one of my most favorite birds. They always show up at serendipitous times in my life.
Gary: Toffee looks just lovely.
Joan: Sorry about the allergies. Hope you have good drugs that will help.
Lindy: Hope Buzz is better. It might just be a bit of stress from having his people back. Congrats on the new TV. They can be very confusing to install. Well done for getting yours set up! I'm going to need a new one very soon. Mine is really old; the cavemen used to watch it after all that hunting and gathering. LOL
Brenda: I hope your husband's appointment goes well, and that you have a good, safe trip.
AQ: I saw Adelaide today! I was watching Nature on PBS -- a program about Australian White Pelicans. The scientists were comparing the lives of the pelicans who remain on the coast with the ones who migrate to Lake Eyre, far into the desert Outback. Surprisingly, the researchers said that the ones who migrate into the Outback were much better off than the coastal birds -- largely because of diminishing ocean food and increasing pollution on the coast. In Adelaide, a woman was examining white pelicans and tagging their wings while trying to avoid their big beaks, which they were using as weapons. The area was very beautiful.
Hello to everyone and have a good Tuesday.
Evening all: Been a busy day. Took grandson to have a persistent and nasty cyst removed from his tailbone this afternoon (apparently not that unusual, especially in "hairy" men, according to the doc), but surgeon was delayed and g'sons girlfriend, who was supposed to take him home but had a test in a night school class, had to leave before he could. So I took him home, but we had to stop for Green Tea Shake with protein concoction from Blenders in the Grass, then a Double-Double Hamburger from In-n-Out Burger (with "animal fries"); then he lost his keys, so had to sort that out. Finally got home at 8 and thank heaven, OH went to get yummy salads from local take-out. Now, three (small) glasses of wine - one of them was for Lady at LOTL - and a few pieces of dark chocolate later, am feeling much more relaxed. Tomorrow, g'son, girlfriend and I are meeting at the doc's office to see how to care for the wound for the next week or two. Wonderful! Life is full of learning experiences, some of which we'd rather not experience. Oh well.
Djoan: Re allergies, I've now upped my antihistamines to twice a day. A sure sign of spring!
Lindybird: Funny you should mention TVs, but the same problem has popped up three times since Panasonic's area manager was here and put in a new computerized board that allegedly should've solve the audio problem. I've switched televisions and put the smaller set in the living room, using the cables already there to see if the same problem shows up. I then put the larger, problematic set in its place to see if anything noteworthy transpires. THis means quite a bit of telly watching in my near-future. Hope the visit to your friend goes as well as can be expected.
Gary: A playdate? That sounds very American. :-) Toffee is developing some lovely features. What a sweetie.
Sheila: Our escallonia is going mad; lots of pink blossoms. We train it to form an arch over the back walkway, which provides lovely shade in late summer.
jsb: Good luck with the anti-cat efforts.
dibnlib: Men asking directions is a known phenomenon, if not a scientific fact; simply put, they don't. My OH isn't averse to looking for help, but he tends to print out Google maps before we go anywhere new-ish.
OG: Ooops, Sorry, scones all scarfed up and clotted cream lasted just through two of them (tiny jar of it from Cost Plus Imports). Winning kudos are all very well, but remind ne of some promotions I had - very impressive title but no actual increase in salary. Great pix!
Diane: Yet again, I've missed a UFO story. No otherworldly visitors as yet (having enough problem with the locals!) '
Off to bed; hope tomorrow is slightly less frantic. Take care all.
Morning, definitely got a change in the weather here today - it is very grey & wet. The forecast that I heard just now said showers in the afternoon. I presume that means that we will have light rain all day and heavier rain at times this afternoon. Apparently we need rain so this is good.
I'm out from work all day - visiting a client this morning then at a lecture in the afternoon. So I'm expecting to find that there is a lot to catch up on when I finally arrive home.
I've got my kindle charging at the moment so I can read one of the free books that I have downloaded while having lunch.
Way hay. Osprey on the nest at Manton bay http://www.ospreys.org.uk/webcam/ I wonder what's happened to the Egyptian Goose egg(s?). She has already brought extra furniture in and moved the furniture.

Morning, Everyone. Listening to Radio Chaffinch with the empty nest before me whilst I try to digest both my breakfast and the fact that Lady is back on her nest at LotL --- Really?????? Is this possible?? What an amazing thing it is, if its true!!!
Gary: Lovely pics of Princess Toffeetips Tippytoes. They do grow at an amazing rate.
Annette: Hope you can solve the mystery of your Panasonic woes. I set ours up as OH is no better than me at anything technical, although he was useful in taking the old, heavy TV away! He is unusual actually, in being a man who will actually ask for directions when he's lost. I do the map reading when we don't have a SatNav with us - (I did a test once, and apparently I have a 'male' orientated brain!!!) - although he doesn't always trust me when I give out directions <sigh>
Dull and grey here, but not raining yet. It's my OH's birthday, so he has had a present from Buzz but is yet to choose mine for him, as he wants a tree! (explanation - for the allotment - possibly a fruit tree).
First, I went to the LotL pages to find out what's new, then I watched Dianes video of the UFO's - both amazing !! Thanks Diane!
Now two osprey at Rutland!! No sign of the goose.
Happy birthday Mr Lindybird!
One mating taken place at Rutland.
OG Your comments about giving directions sound all too familiar! Though I haven't yet lived down over-ruling the sat-nav when heading from the A77 to Aberfoyle - I insisted we needed to go through Paisley (in the evening rush hour). Sister and B-i-L were at the hotel, having some refreshment long before we got there! I'm usually more reliable than that. I drive alone to dog competitions so have to be on the ball about directions.
