Gary, I'm sure Richard told us in one of his blogs or as a reply under someone's question that they would be swobbed round the beak (mouth) like a person would. I really don't want to take the time to look back at all the comments !!! Or even the Blogs right now, but I may fast read the Blogs on some occasion. I really really am sure I remember that correctly.
Do you think EJ and Odin left LG today? Or just practicing 'tough love' . ?

I was curious about the DNA tests mentioned earlier. So, I just read all of Richard's answers the day of the ringing and although I did not see any mention of DNA testing of the chicks he said they can tell the sex by the size of the feet. Girls have large feet and boys have smaller feet. He also said on that blog that although the birds are usually gone by September 1st , on rare occasions they have had some stay until Mid September. He may have mentioned DNA testing on another blog I only completely read that one . "IF" they did not do DNA testing then I guess there is a "remote chance" that Mallachie could be a male with big feet. Time will tell. She is tagged so they will know when she/he breeds. I admit I was inspired by Robert's anagram of "Rothes Mallachie Garten" being "Lotsa gremlin heartache". That is absolutely brilliant.
Let's hope that the redoubtable EJ and the magnificent Odin are 'joined' for many years to come.
