Hey folks. Barbara Jean, you there?

  • Thanks for the pics, Cirrus:  life has to go on around dipping into the site to see how our girls are doing, so glad of some records of what's been going on in between. Often seem to find an empty nest or branch when I find a minute to have a look.  Garten seems as greedy as ever, doesn't she?

  • Margobird, Have a great holiday and I am sure you won't be able to resist using the hotel internet.

Wendymac, Hope you also enjoy your holiday and are able to see the remainder of the family at LG. Look forward to your report when you return home.

  • June and everyone else. I understand the power in words, spoken or written, SO. there is only one answer to your wonderings.   YES. Mallachie has what it takes . Even the most shy humam child 'comes through' in the end. And so will precious Mallachie.  I truly believe that. OK?    Lots of love (not an angry statement)

  • When we worry about Malachie I think we should remember Deshar. Last year he had much less food than any of the girls this year, yet he had the sense to find a nice safe spot with lots of fish and feed up well before his epic journey. I know his satnav didn't work properly, but with the longest recorded non-stop flight of any Osprey, I don't think we need to worry about Malachie not feeding up at the moment.

Did you notice that Rothes wanderings around Loch Garten took her to the Spey River? I wonder if she followed Odin there (LG team seem to think that is where he fished) and learnt to fish for herself? Liz

  • Cirrus I am convinced as you that Mallachie does have what it takes, she is just taking her time at the moment and not rushing into anything.  I am also sure she has been getting enough to eat because when you read back she has had her fair share of fish.  If Garten goes before her that is when Mallachie will come into her own and surprise us all.

    Margobird

  • BrendaH thanks so much and as you say I am sure I will be looking at the internet in the hotel.  It will be different next year as we have already booked our holiday but not until September.

    Margobird

  • Wendymac you have a good holiday too and I hope you get to see the girls and maybe and EJ and Odin.  I suspect it will take a couple of days to catch up with everything on my return.

    Margobird

  • Well Cirrus I am spending a last hour or so looking at all the pics and taking everything in.  I am looking forward to my holiday but will miss all our family so much.  Even though I can probably have a peek at the hotel internet I can't spend too much time on it, my husband will think I am barmy.  He is a lover of all wildlife but does not have as much time as I do to follow the ospreys, I just update him on what is happening.  Keep taking the pics can never have enough.

    Margobird

  • Very very many thanks Wattle 15 - good intel.  Margobird, have a WONDERFUL holiday. Just Mallachies back to be seen in tree - actually I can't see an aerial but I tlhink someone else said it was Mallachie. I've been out to post a family birthday pressie and it's a  work evening for me so if anyone takes any pics please put them up here on Daily Update and many thanks for that.

  • Mallachie seems to have spent the entire day back and forth from tree to nest - from nest to tree. But I'll believe Richard when he says she has been exploring near potential fishing grounds.
