Daily Update, Friday August 14, 2009

Hey folks. Barbara Jean, you there?

  •  Garten doing her favourite thing.     But who brought the fish please?

  • Cirrus thanks for the pic of our greedy Garten but I am gtad Mallachie had something earlier bless her.  My last day for watching and I am so going to miss them. Tthey will be gone when I return from holiday so I am busy saving all the pics I can.  I guess I will have a lot to catch up on when I return at the end of August.  Please be safe EJ, Odin, Mallachie and Garten and of course Rothes who is making terrific headway.  What a girl.  Thanks to all LG bloggers for making this such an interesting place, without all the input we would not know what was going on a lot of the time.  Garten and Mallache on the nest when I logged in so grateful I have seen them.

    Margobird

  • A VERY fed up Mallachie but WHY does she just GIVE the fish to Garten?

  • Mallachie trying to 'do a Garten'

  • Picture perfect Garten.

The flopping page takes so long to load I forget which image I intend to upload. All the time in the world to make a cup of  coffee. Sigh. Glad you want the pics Margobird it makes it all worth while. Smile.

Margobird I know how you feel. we are off tomorrow and although we will be going to LG Sat/Sun I will have no computer access after that so will miss the rest of the family leaving. I would just like to Repeat what you said about all the great pics and comments from everyone which has made following this family that bit more pleasurable(not that it hasn't been pleasurable anyway). Hope you have a good holiday and will enjoy catching up with everything when you get back, I know I will.

  • That lost fish of Mallachie's is still where it was (obviously) and Garten tricks Mallachie in coming to have a look over the edge and leave the fish  for a moment giving Garten time to leap in and grab the fresh fish.

    That's my theory anyway.

  • Just when I was getting worried about Malachie, I read back over previous entries & find that others also are concerned.  I also see that she did have something to eat earlier this morning.  Garten has been and still is far & away  my favorite, fiesty little thing that she is.  She's a winner for sure!!   but I am getting just a little disgusted with her always eating while her sister looks on.    And I do love Mallachie too.  I am actually beginning to wonder if she has what it takes to make the trip.  First of all, is she getting enough food now to build up the reserves she will need for the journey?  Does she have the character to go get what she needs in the way of food or whatever?  Will she have the strength of body and the determination to defend herself?  Or will her quick submission serve her well on the trail as it did in the nest?  Anyway, she like all her family, are in the hands of God who cares about "even the sparrows", so I am praying for my osprey family and now especially for Mallachie.  I think she needs some extra -- I started to say TLC, but no she needs more tough love right now.  How can our long-distance love give her the gumption she needs?

  • Thank you so much for the pictures. I do worry so much about Mallachie not getting her share of the fish and as Richard says, not travelling much further afield. Paula told us that she saw Garten wet when she returned to the nest so at least she is having a go.

June, I notice we posted at the same time and I am echoing your sentiments!!!
