Weekly Chat, Sunday March 13, 2011

Evening all: Been out all day; now starting to think about dinner.  Back later to catch up.

  • Good Afternoon All,

Thanks, as always to Annette for starting the week, especially when you feel so bad.

AQ, We were quite the opposite to you this morning. We were in church 15 mins. before the 9am started. Our church is quite small and you have to get there early to make sure you get a seat.

Diane, Thanks for the advice and links. I would have to check if we would be allowed to just buy the tablets here. I have just read a question from a person on the internet, asking where she can buy the tablets as she had tried all the main chemists and local herbalists and had been told they do not stock them. Only advice she was given on internet was to try Amazon. I will have to talk to my daughter.

Dibnlib, I am sure you are being sensible and know how much walking and exercise you should do, but I do find myself worrying about you, especially when you talk about walking Dillon on your own. You are doing so well, do take care.

Auntie, Always pleased to hear from you whenever you can. There are times in all our lives when we need more than 24 hours in a day and we don't work your long hours. Thanks for your congratulations.

Wendy, So sorry about your 4" of snow. Hope you don't have a power cut. It won't stop you cleaning the oven but will stop you watching the rugby.

Alan, Thanks for the happy eagle story.

I think our lunch is ready now. Leg of lamb took much longer to cook than expected. I will be watching the rugby so will 'see' you all later.

  • BRENDA  thanks for your concern and to be honest you are quite right. I do push it a bit far sometimes and suffer for it the next day.  Had a swim this am and was in the pool for about 25 mins - the first 15 mins I was on my own. It is lovely to pretend you are in your own private pool. the last 10 mins 2 people got in and 1 got out. Funnily enough a few months ago I laughingly apologised to someone who had been swimming on her own and she said she was glad that she wasn't on her own any longer as she didn't like it!!!

WENDY Do hope you don't have to delay  your trip down South, don't think the snow will lie here. It is falling horrible, wet and slushy.

One of our church members fell sometime after me and was partial weight bearing, with a stookie. Anyway the stookie came off, but a few days ago she slipped again and returned to hosp. She had no new injury but it appears the original was not repairing itself as well as hoped so they put a plaster cast back on again. What a nightmare, I think I would have lost the plot completely if my stookie hadn't come off when it did!!!!

  •  Hatch at Hampton at last. Not seen the chick yet but the eggshell has been removed from the nest cup. Fantastic!!!

  • Pic of eaglet next to mums talons:

  • Alan - you weren't really talking to yourself all afternoon - I have been looking in between family emails and phonecalls!  Thanks for pix.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Congrats to Jet the Flat Coated Retriever for being the Supreme Champion at Crufts. Always my favourite and from Scotland too.

  • Thanks for all the news.

Alan - that's great, wondered whether there had been a hatch as have cam on now but could'nt tell. You have confirmed and what great shots you've managed to get.

Had a very easy day, son came over to watch the rugby. A win for England so on target for the Grand Slam title - but only if the beat Ireland and that will be a toughy.

Thanks Annette for starting us off again.

It is worrying as to what is going to happen re the nuclear plant in Japan, we can only wait and see but lets hope no drastic measures have to be taken and that wildlife will escape relatively unscathed!!!

  • Been a mixed day here. Started off damp but cleared up this afternoon with sunshine around.  Birds are singing and spring is in the air.  Quite funny really. I was looking out of the conservatory windows yesterday and two collard doves were in our cherry tree having a right ol' go.  Starlings, greenfinches, chaffinches, bluetits and coaltits and at present two or three blackbirds. I think they are feeding up ready for mating?

Annette - hope you soon feel better and glad you got some retail therapy in. Whenever I feel a little down I'm on my laptop and doing a bit of shopping - cheers me up.

WendyB - do hope the weather improves up there and you can get away on Wednesday.

Just caught these tender moments of mum feeding baby at Norfolk.

sorry, they're a bit fuzzy due to proximity of closeup of the cam.not sure how to defuzz.

  • Alan, how come you managed to get it so clear. Could it be mine are fuzzy due to closeup and light fading?? That's an brilliant capture.
