Everyone Thank you for news, chat, pics.
I’m not sure where time is going. Perhaps the short week - Monday was a public holiday (for Adelaide Cup horse race). Then I’ve been out 2 days. First to have eyes checked. Yep, still have two. Then on to chase up an extinct church. I tried last week at G library. Bored librarian referred me to U museum. (I don’t think she had even noticed the old church opposite!) So I went to museum to find a gaggle of women more interested in "a group coming in" soon. I persisted, found a pamphlet, also was referred to U library for local history book. On to next stop, found book, but my library card was at home, so I made notes. Oh yes, it was a Baptist church in ye olden days. Traffic was horrendous. I couldn’t understand why until I remembered a car race around streets of Adelaide this weekend. Roads full of drivers weaving lanes, pushing in, doing stupid things. These wannabe racing drivers are a menace. Fortunately we in the west are not affected by road closures all week for the race. To add to the shambles, a country town arranged a convoy of vehicles at rush-hour to protest closure of their hospital.
Evening all: Spent afternoon in the garden getting lots of dirt under my fingernails; decided to move a rose that looks a bit lost where it is and added some dymondia to an area that was mulched. Will have to move the rose tomorrow since we're expecting several days of rain starting Friday, probably the last of the season until November.
OG: Grandson and Mom live in an apartment and have washer/dryer on premises, but it's often busy so when he knows he's coming by, he saves his for our super new machines (plus we serve "refreshments"!) :-) Irrigation all seems to be okay; it's an automated system with several "stations" that water specific sections of the garden depending on the plants and their specific water needs. Since I'm the gardening half in this household, I'm the one who'll keep an eye on it. We'll use it less and less as the plants become established.
Lynette: I seem to serve the same old chicken and fish dishes; we don't each much red meat and I seem to have a real knack for messing up pork!
AQ: Your quest for the missing church turned into an obstacle course from the sounds of it. A bored librarian? How can that be! We have a show called Prairie Home Companion here that features little skits. One of my favorites involves "The Adventures of Ruth Harrison, Reference Librarian" and her encounters with irresponsible, irreverent, but mostly clueless patrons. A hoot.
Thanks all for pix and posts and Big Hallo to those I haven't mentioned. Off to rose garden in the morning; then back to my own garden in the afternoon. What a life, eh? :-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EAGLE EYE.
Hope you have a really enjoyable day.
Happy birthday, Eagle Eye.
Annette, i forgot to mention that when I visited the bored librarian there was a cluster of pre-schoolers & mums singing "Frere Jacques" at the top of their voices. Recently I watched an episode of "New Tricks" where the man was standing in a library with kids chanting, young folk clattering through CD/DVDs, etc, etc. He shouted "SILENCE THIS IS A LIBRARY" and was escorted out by security.
Good Morning, Woke very early and then felt wide awake. Lay in bed but really wanted a cup of tea and OH was still fast asleep, so had to get up and make my own.Another misty, cloudy morning with a very light drizzle.
Annette, I would think that your garden is going to be so beautiful. I bet the neighbours are all very interested and watching what you are still doing.
AQ, I remember that episode of 'New Tricks'. I presume you controlled yourself and didn't shout at the ' little darlings'.
Just off to empty the washing machine.
Good morning everyone. Does anyone know why the video camera has not gone live today? It was supposed to. And, are we going to have a Daily Update forum for the nest again this year ?
