• Well an osprey still on the nest. A tail showing right now.

  • Humph, Margo - I'm very much in doubt whoever is in charge at LoTL has learned anything. I personally believe, immaturity is at play here

EDIT   does  anyone know if the Laird has been around to day?

There were a lot of lovely views of Lady yesteday

  • I got the feeling of - I'm gonna do things MY way - from the new boss. Just hope the birds don't suffer cos of it.

  • I think it was Laird on the nest a few minutes ago.

I find it difficult to understand why someone who can be so "distant" about the birds can be the public face of LotL. The blog and camera were so important to the publicity needs in recent years.

I dread to think what things would have been like if there had been chicks this year. It's hardly inviting, is it?

  • Sandra, I have so missed your pics and reports. You were superb last year. I don't think anything will change next year.
I certainly hope not, but if Lady, doesn't return next year, they could find that their site followers and visitor numbers will drop. They have done nothing to endear themselves to their 'public' and the blogs have been awful. I am still waiting to see the photographs we were promised too.

  • Interesting comments although I see things slightly differently.  I remember reading comments a while back on this thread of people's disappointments with SWT/LotL and the way people have been treated.  Nevertheless, this week I took out membership with them and made a donation for their work with the Ospreys.  I have enjoyed being able to watch Lady & Laird on the webcam this year and wanted to show my appreciation.  Besides, I wasn't around in previous years so have nothing to compare this year too, personally speaking.  It would be very sad if people see fit to cancel their membership - surely their work with the Ospreys may suffer and, hmmm, maybe next year their won't even be a webcam :\  !!  This springs to mind since, I quote, from my membership email  "A message from the team at Loch of the Lowes: thank you for your donation towards the our work with ospreys including maintaining the osprey webcam".  Just a thought.

  • Looking very likely she is well on her way southward now. Seems she hasn't been seen since a little after 8.30 this morning.

Safe journey Marge if that is the case. See you next year!

  • If she is on her way Chloe, I will join you in wishing her a safe journey and look forward to seeing her in 2012.

  • ChloeB, safe journey Lady and on time but I think a day later, I am learing all the time but just goes to show how the body clock works.

LadyBird I understand what you are saying and yes you are right, donations and membership need to be kept up and also to keep the camera working but I do have to say, maybe there were too many posts last year but Lady was thought to be dying on the nest and made a miraculous recovery and it got into peoples hearts all over the world. Also a lot of people made a lot of money for Lowes. The shame is there are no Blogs for you to look back on. She is a truly remarkable Osprey and has defied all the odds and March will soon be here the way this year is flying by. Lowes have really have been too extreme with the way they have cut people out and maybe if they are not careful they will not get money from the Post Code lottery in Scotland again as they did this year.

I think Dyfi have got it right although no camera at the moment, the updates and videos are brilliant.  I am not a facebook fan but comments do not get out of control there. Also it is remarkable how fast an appeal made more than enough money but the excess will be put to good use.

  • I too thought from the blog that she is probably on her way.

She has shown such dedication this year, as has her Laird, protecting her nest right up until her departure. She is a much healthier bird than she was when she left last year, and maybe with a skip in her step as she thinks of her young toy-boy.

    God speed, Lady Marge.

    Haste ye back!
