Daily Update, Monday August 10, 2009

5:30 a.m. UK Time. Been out at a BBQ. Came home to one bird on nest - think it's Garten, but not sure at all. Whoever it is has a huge fish in its talon and is flapping (not mantling) and calling. And has flown off! Unfortunately, didn't see if it took the fish.

    Thanks Gary, I've got it back too but it took me half a dozen goes !!

     

    Well, cam man has just done a pan round to another branch which had Rothes on it !!  I’m sure it was Rothes. Golden nape and all that. But EJ still sitting on her own branch with fish tail. So that blows my theory out of the water !!

    And since I’ve typed this in Word whilst waiting for the right page to load, please expect a lot of gobble de gook with the message. Before or after it . Sorry !!

    Thanks Gary. My browser not yet showing new Official Blog. RATS  ! It always leaves me high and dry at the wrong times and I don't want to do a restart in case I miss some EJ action.

    Fippin' eck. My browser still shows 'All is Well'. I've had to access the new blog the LONG way around despite doing a Restart.

    Well, did I see correctly or not? EJ just visited Rothes on the nest. Rothes is eating a fish but it looks like a whole (small) fish not the fish tail that EJ carted off the nest and sat in the tree with. Nevertheless ...............

    However, is this EJ's 'goodbye' to number one daughter?

    Everyone keep your eyes peeled for EJ today.

    Ah, end of action.

    Rothes was on the nest eating a fish that Alan thought most likely delivered by Odin. I concur even though I didn't see the delivery. Then EJ visited the nest . Spent a little time with Rothes and flew off.

    The next scene was of EJ and Mallachie on the nest . I went to prepare some breakfast (yep ! I know, breakfast for lunch order of the day in this house quite often) so missed important 'conjunctions'. Anyway, here is the image I took. Nest is now empty.

    A bit late due to a phone call interrupting me! I arrived home from work to fnd EJ suddenly appear. Lots of mantling from EJ and Mallachie who was already on the nest.

    Mallachie lay down and EJ began to eat a fish. Mallachie got up and was fed a bit before going back for a lie down. EJ continued to eat the fish. That's when I started to doubt myself....somewhat unusual behaviour and the first thing that sprang to mind was that this was EJ's goodbye. I then read back the comments and it looks like you guys think the same.

    Then the phone rang....

    Empty nest now.

     

    And to be brief and trying not to add "chatter" to these threads.....thank you guys for keeping the updates going now that I'm back to work. Also nice to see a few new names. Now back to the updates...

    Make the most of today because, unlike Sky+, there isn't a rewind button.

    thanks everyone. Been outside for a couple of hours. Lovely to see EJ on the nest earlier but no sign of her on the camera now
