After Tiger started the thread for tracking Rothes and Mallachie I thought that we could do with a thread for the tracking of ospreys fitted with transmitters by Roy Dennis. As the "summer" marches on it won't be long before the only way we can get our osprey fix is to follow their migrations.
This year we have the opportunity of following all three tagged birds from last year: Nimrod, Beatrice and Morven. It will be fascinating to find out if they will winter in exactly the same place as last year, and also whether they take the same route.
Added to that Roy has tagged two more adult males this year, Red/white 8T (an Abernethy bird) and Morven's other half (Logie's ex fella). I'm not certain whether Roy has any further transmitters or will attempt to catch any more adult males but, including Rothes and Mallachie, we will be able to follow at least 7 ospreys on their incredible journeys this autumn.
Margobird, I didn't pick up that Roy was overly worried about Red 8T unless I am not reading the page right? he is over land now (or was according to the map)
Roy Dennis has just posted that no new news has come in yet about "Rothie" or Red 8T and he is expecting some more data "late today"Red 8T was over land last time a fix came in so that is good but, like others, waiting to see where Rothie has got to. Everything crossed.
Roy seems to think that Morvern is probably about to start migrating - might even have started today. Looking forward to next update. Unfortunately, she is the one with the slightly faulty 'backpack' so we might not get any news for a couple of days or so. Am I right in thinking her tracker is on a 3 day info cycle?
From Flying C's [ost it appears Roy mis-named Red 8T that and explains why I made the errorin my post. He is doing well but still terribly worried about Rothiemurchus, so hoping he is OK.
Margobird
Thanks Flying C just Rothiemurchus to worrry about until we get next fix.

It appears to be ringed but too far away to read.
Could it be one of ours?
Roy Dennis update on Rothiemurchus:

Well, I for one am determined to be optimistic about Rothy. He seems to have only just missed Spain (I'm sure he is much nearer the coast than Deshar's route) and Roy says there is a NE wind which should help him. Fingers very much crossed.
All fingers and toes crossed. IR standing by in case needed. FAB

Thanks for that, Alan. There must be quite some rivalry amongst those French photographers each producing some stunning photos. Wish there was some way to zoom in on the ring.
