3:14 in UK. Can't even see the white blur of the nest......
After they chased the intruder away Garten flew off. Mallachie is still on the nest either waiting for breakfast or defending her nest. She doesn't appear to be food calling.
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
Thanks Barbara Jean: Glad you were there to see the intruder. I was talking to my granddaughter and saw the action but wasn't sure what I'd seen... So now just Mallachie? on the nest. Or Rothes?
Second bird now on pole - Garten? Mallachie still at nest.
This site is being painfully slow to upload tonight ....
I think it is Mallachie and not Rothes. Mallachie looks so much like Odin. Garten is easy to identify , no aerial.
Right Barbara; I haven't had much of a chance to see the birds close up during the day since I've been so busy (although we've had some great photos courtesy of Paul and Cirrus I think). I'll print them out tomorrow so I won't be so clueless.
It's almost 6 a.m; in the UK, 10 p.m. here and I'm about to pass the baton to whoever is out there. Thanks BJ for being there. Night, night....
Morning all. Thanks again to Annette for starting the thread; much appreciated. No sign of an osprey, a redstart or even a crested tit.
Make the most of today because, unlike Sky+, there isn't a rewind button.
I think Garten just had a fly by before landing on the nest. Al very brief. She hardly folded her wings away before she was off again.
We have action on the nest. we have breakfast served. Wings everywhere as the two chicks on the nest squabble over who gets it. It appeared to be EJ that delivered it but she took off immediately but there does appear to be intruders about. It's Mallachie and Rothes who are on the nest and I think it's Rothes who has the fish. No, think it's Mallachie and she's being very possessive. Rothes keeps trying to get "in there" but Mallachie isn't having any of it. Rothes flies off a few minutes later.
Just to say 'Good morning' as I won't be able to watch much today - doctor's appointment, food shopping etc. BUT - who is eating the fish on the post please? I thought it was EJ bringing a breakfast fish for Mallachie as Rothes was already noshing one ! It's now 08.14am.
I noticed a little earlier that both Ospreys in the nest were sporting back packs.
And no change in the data from GoogleEarth. Mmmm
It must be Garten on the post. Now they are all defending fish and nest and Mallachie is the only one without a fish. Ahhhhhhh
Now what ! I wonder if Garten caught her own fish ? Intruders above obviously
