At 1.30pm on Friday 3rd April 2009 a new male osprey arrived at Loch Garten and began to woo EJ who has had a difficult time at Loch Garten since she arrived on June 16th 2003 having been evicted from her own nest.
At the time we said that we would give the new male time to settle in before passing judgent. As the season darws to a close maybe it is the time to say what Odin has come to mean to you and how he compares to previous Loch Garten males like OVS, Henry and Ollie?

It is during weather like this that you have no difficulty seeing why clever old Odin is away in Africa. It would not be too easy to fish in Britain just now.
Is anyone willing to predict that Odin or indeed another male will arrive at Loch Garten first this year?
EJ arrived on 25th March 2009.
I predict EJ first 27th March, Odin 7th April.

Sounds like we need a predictions thread.
Should we start separate ones for EJ and Odin, or a joint one? And do we have date only or give times?

Good afternoon original goldfinch from a very wet Poole. I predict EJ 28 March and Odin (hopefully) 5 April.
