I am not sure if we should have separate threads for Rothes and Mallachie. If people feel we should the best start them right away.
The first data has been published on Google Earth and immediately it is amazing how much further Rothes has flown that Mallachie.

My heart was breaking as I saw her wait all night on the nest with Rothes share of the fish under her foot . I think we all wished we could tell EJ her Rothes was fine, she just left early on her migration

Rothes latest position just to the east of Louga on 25th May:
Thanks for posting your Google Earth picture Sue C. Mine hasn't updated with Rothes moving north yet. Brilliant news and I agree Lindybird - itwas an eery night when EJ was on the nest waiting for Rothes to come back and we found out afterwards that she had already gone. I will never forget it but look at her now. Moving back north, perhaps to visit mum. Remember when she and Mallachie passed close to one another on their migrations south. We were imagining them flying by each other. Its all so fascinating. Lets hope we can welcome her back to Scotland. We won't see her as an intruder at all :-))
Such fantastic news one of ours returning home. Safe journey Rothes.

I agree it was heartbreaking seeing EJ waiting for Rothes not knowing she had already left.
Does anyone know how often the Center will update Rothes migration positions ? Roy Dennis is updating his every couple of days . Or are members here like Alan and Sue C going to keep us posted on her journey north . It will be an exciting vicarious adventure for us
I tried to get a new position via google earth but the last data is still may 25th
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
The data from the fixes comes in batches I believe and they wont show on Google Earth until they are entered into the KML file by the staff and Google Earth is updated.
Alan/Sue - Keep me updated - stuck in the middle Sahara at present and this is one site I can get on even though it takes over an hour or so. Thanks everyone - Great news to know she started her migration - your forum blog was the first I could get. Tiger updated me on Rothiemurchus. Need to get back to Scotland.
Here is an interesting idea to ponder. Roy Dennis' Nimrod is always late and this year because he got back so late he is mateless. Our Rothie doesn't seem to be an early riser either. Maybe she and Nimrod could get together :) Neither one seems in a hurry to get here so in the future they would arrive about the same time.
