I am not sure if we should have separate threads for Rothes and Mallachie. If people feel we should the best start them right away.
The first data has been published on Google Earth and immediately it is amazing how much further Rothes has flown that Mallachie.

Well it's been an up and down couple of weeks in Ospreyland, but this is THE news we've been waiting for. It's going to be fascinating in the coming weeks to see where she goes and how she gets there!

I thought you might turn up Sandy Do you think the sturgeon farm should prepare for the arrival of Rothes?
I haven't the slightest idea, Tiger! But then that's the beauty of the satellite tracking - we're about to find out! Just so excited that EJ & Odin's first-born is heading home.
At last!!! All the evidence showed that Ospreys return after 2 years however I think Rothes has started later than most of us thought, It will be interesting to see leaving dates for Spey & No12 in 12 months.
Rothemurchus has adapted his home route due to much of his first migration being over water; it will certainly be interesting to see the route Rothes takes with his first migration mostly being overland. Looking at Adult migrations there doesn't always seen to be common stopping points between Spring & Autumn migrations so again it will be interesting to see if she still has a taste for Sturgeon!!!
Finally where will she visit when she returns; I suspect it will be a full visit to the highlands but being female will she wander more than males do.
Hey VC, what do you mean by later? I predicted she would set off on 15th so was only a week out! :)

This news has made my day, & my week! Go Rothes!!!
Google Earth has updated - and here's the first map:
Rothes flew about 360km on Monday 23rd - not bad for an osprey who has been doing next to nothing for 16 months!
Wow I just read the Rothes has started her Northern migration! It will be thrilling to see her as an adult . We will be able to compare archived pictures of her as a juvenile and see how much she looks like she did when she left. I foolishly hope she comes close enough for EJ to see her. I remember the time when she suddenly left and EJ sat all night on the nest with Rothes share of a fish. She had fed Mallachie and Garten and was waiting for Rothes.
Now I hope people are on the lockout for Garten. Roy Dennis thought they were all females, but I still think Garten is a male :)

That was tearful stuff, Barbara Jean, when she waited and waited for Rothes to return.
