I am not sure if we should have separate threads for Rothes and Mallachie. If people feel we should the best start them right away.
The first data has been published on Google Earth and immediately it is amazing how much further Rothes has flown that Mallachie.
Tiger Signature
Rothes still on Ilha de Unhocomozinho as at 2nd May.
So much for my prediction that she would move by the end of April then!
This is the first time she has been "snapped" at the fishing camp islet, Acunda, which was featured in the Robson Green TV programme.
No move from Rothes:
So much for my prediction that Rothes would move on 3rd May. Maybe when she hears about Rothiemurchus she will head north.

Did they show Rothes on the program?
If So is there a place we can see her picture?

Barbara Jean,
Sorry - I meant she'd been "snapped" there on Google Earth, not by a camera!
This is the Robson Green programme, if you want something to watch over the next few days, though it doesn't mention Rothes. As it's on Youtube, I think you should be able to view it from the States. I'll warn you, I didn't enjoy the fishing theme, and found R.G. especially annoying as a would-be Geordie Ernest Hemingway. Anyway, the Bijagos Islands segment starts at 14 mins in.
So, with the departures of Buck and Rothiemurchus, Rothes has become the only 2 year-old osprey we know to have remained "down south" thus far - but her latest position on May 10th, is only a day after Rothie set off. Will she?
I'm thinking, Google Earth is separate from the RSPB Community site, so if the LG team do a Rothes update in the next few days, we should still be able to see it.
Thanks Sue .
With all the work involved with the change over they may not update Rothes positions for a while .
Considering how infrequently they update her positions she may just surprise everyone and show up in the area LOL
Rothes...........still not going anywhere much
The news we've been expecting for so long that we'd almost stopped expecting it!
Caroline has just announced on the LG blog that Rothes started moving north on Sunday 22nd May.
Her most recent reported location is approaching the Senegal/Mauritania border.
Will look for a Google Earth update tonight.
Yes the whole place is in uproar Sue. Brilliant news indeed! :)
