Thanks for your comments Keith and I will certainly pass on your comments to all involved - it's our end of season party next weekend, so I'll see everyone.
It's wonderful to have two of our adult males tagged, just a pity that it was done because 08(97) went missing. I am longing to see where they both stay in the winter.
AW is certainly shifting fast - this must be the worst part of their journey.

Not the best weather for them to start off this week:

Lynda - I saw the picture of AU at ringing tonight. Which of the three of the rings AU, AY, AZ do they think may be the offspring of 08(97)/5N(04) that was fostered out to this nest. I may have missed this information somewhere and please forgive me if I have.
Did 09/98 carry on his romance with 5N(04) and can we look forward to track him back as a breeding male.
Keith, there is a picture on the website of the three juveniles in the nest and the one with the white head is the one that they think is 08's but until they have the DNA results in, they won't know. I don't think they told us each bird's ring number. I'll see what I can find out.
Yes, 09(98) certainly did carry on his romance ALL summer and has only recently started out on migration - you can track him on Google Earth. I bet he'll be anxious to get back next spring, although I think he's generally early - need to look that one up.
Ketih, this is the page with the picture of the 3 juveniles at ringing, Site O.

Lynda - Many thanks for your information. Can distinctively see the white head difference but not sure which ring this was given.
It will be nice to track 09 to Africa and return in the spring of 2012 and hopefully will carry on where he left off. As a non breeding male it would finish the story if he found his own female and bred next year possibly with 5N(04) especially him being one of the original translocated birds. After all he has tried stealing other males partners in the past.
Once again thank you for the information.
John is so talented with his drawings and his captures - what a talent.
A wonderul link LYNDAB - thank you so much.
Oooo I really do hope AW has finished crossing the Sahara even if he does know what he is doing. He cannot predict sand storms.
